I just bought a used (like new) .22 discovery last week. After shooting it for a few days I wasn't too happy with the accuracy. It would only shoot RWS superdomes somewhat respectable but would scatter JSB's and CPH's. The other night after work I did the 2 screw trigger mod, polished the crown and cleaned the barrel. Man was that barrel dirty. It took about 10 patches with Goo Gone to clean it out.
Well this gun will really shoot now. It loves the JSB's and will send 20 shots into a dime size group at 35 yards with no fliers. The CPH's shot a little larger group, maybe quarter size in 10 shots. I think I am going to like this gun. I'll find out Sunday how it does on squirrels. I'll try and post pics if I get any.
It is wearing a Bushnell Banner 4x12x40 ao scope on top. I still need to get a muzzle break yet.

Randy,
What was your procedure for polishing the crown. Would be interested in hearing what polish you used and what you used to apply it with? Somewhere I had read that guys were using ball bearings for such.
Neo
BTW Congrats on the .22. Sounds like a real shooter!!

I used a brass screw in my drill and some metal polishing compound I had on hand. It takes a while but it does work if the crown isn't real bad. I think cleaning the barrel helped more than anything.

well if it's like mine it's going to be a squirrel killer, poor little varmits just don't stand a chance anymore!Hope you got a good deal and to think someone else couldn't get it to group and gave it up what a shame but now it yours, some of them just need alittle work to turn into a very accurate gun.
