: Finally got the RS2 dialed in.
: MIKE I January 07, 2009, 02:08:48 PM
Man, it took some work, but it is a very nice shooter.  I had to learn a ton as far as correcting deficiancy's, improving what was already good (wasn't much!) but it was worth the effort.  I have one accurate gun that shoots with no twang and has a dream of a trigger.

I was plinking at 40, 45 and 50 yds tonight and can easily knock a nutter's head.  (from a rest, I'm not as good a shot as the gun is at this point)  It's fun hitting a 2" circle at 50yds consistantly.

My RS2 Has been very good out of the box. It is a .22 and it hits the squirells real hard. What is the seal like in these guns? Did you have to change yours? I am starting to work on the second one I bought.I am going to try this one in .177. I just have to make my spring compressor and get some moly.

My seal was un-damaged.  It is a nice piece, similar to the Maccari seal I got for my S1K.  Watch out for the piston gouging the top of the  compression chamber, a result of the cocking pressure.  I used 6 JM old school buttons on that thrust surface, cleaned up the galling that had already occured and did a lube tune with JM lubes.  Next was re-crowning the barrel and a trigger tune to finish up.  The result is a very accurate, smooth cocking and crisp shooting gun.  The trigger is like melting butter, smooth!

Mine was very rough out of the box.  It was extremely hard to cock, wouldn't latch sometimes and wasn't very accurate.  After all the tricks learned here it is sweet.

Good to hear your RS2 shooting smothly. I bought one from PA and after 2 months had to send it to Beeman to get it checked..it lost power and when I did penetration test on a 1x4 the .22 gamo hunter bounched off and noticed it was not even deformed. I shoot my G1 Extreme and almost penetrated it same distance of 15 yards. I recieved a new one last week(replacement) and noticed it dieseled a lot and the first 2 shots detonated. Before I used this I cleaned the barrel with goo gone until pull patch came out clean. I probably pushed approx. 300 leads and stils diesels but starting to thin out. Does your cocking lever rattle? Did you put a washer/shim to quit the lever. Other than diesiling and the lever rattle it shoots hard. Any pointer? Thanks!!

My cocking lever rattled, a thin plastic washer solved the problem.  Out of the box my gun was so bad I nearly returned it.  I decided to tear it down, tune it and see.  So far so great.
