to fill your rifle shooting rests and what are you making them out of?
-
Right now, sand. But that ain't gonna' do. I've heard that uncooked rice works pretty good.

The ones I bought came packed in some really tiny soft spongy stuff. I liked it so much that I made a support that mounts under the forearm of my HW97. Here's a link to it. It works out perfectly.

Yeah...I thought about that but what if it gets wet, or even damp. Guess I could make it into Flied Lice...lol...
-
foam particles or cork has got to be the best filler. Something that will have a cushion effect without turning hard.
-
I've got a 'gel' bicycle seat (ok, watch the jokes) that I need to figure out how to adapt to a rest.

Use two...one for ravel: ground up packing "peanuts"...wanted light weight for transportation, but a deading effect.
Also one that never leaves the workshop: granulated clay (that's cat litter to most of us...new, not used). Usually shoot springers with my hand on the rifle forened and rest my wrist/back of my hand on the bag. For recoiless guns, will usually rest directly on the bag.

You oughta just go ahead and tell people it's used cat litter and you've gotta shoot through watery eyes, that ought to impress 'em. 8)

I had another Rapid owner entice me into get this guy!!

I got the vise attachments, so I use this to brenchrest, setup, repair, and clean all my Guns

I haven't tried this yet but am gong to. Heard those "mooshie" pillows the kids like so well are good for springers. They are filled with about a million tiny styrofoam pellets, although you would swear it's gel.

I had purchased some nylon covered neoprene like that used to make diving suits and so made some pads out of several thickness to use between the sandbag and forearm of my springer. Works great.
I originally bought a roll of this stuff to make some new tankpads for my other passion, motorcycles, so I have a life time supply. It happens when you need some obscure material.
-
never tried it, but I would think unpopped popcorn kernels would work as well as, or better than rice, without the humidity factor being a problem. Huhmf, might have to try that...will let you know:)

Don't let anybody microwave your rest, big trouble. 8)

"Honey, is that my AG rest you're microwaving? Haha, silly wife......guess now I'll have to go buy another AG that bounces less so I wont need that rest!", "Darn the bad luck!"
;)
