Is it the barrel length of the Talon that makes it more efficient than the short barrel BSA Carbine?

Tommy when I looked up the barrel length of your rifle I believe it is 18.5 inches . The talon ss has a 12 inch barrel and they say it will so 1000 fps . The talon has a 18 inch barrel and they list it at 1100 fps . Both of these figures are in .177 caliber . So I think we could safely say that the 24 inch barrel would yield another 100 fps and I believe those are figures I have seen some where . That would put it that much over the BSA in that area . The rest would have to do with valving . Marvin

PCP rifles, and to some extent CO2 rifles do get increased efficiency from longer barrels. Where a springer is pretty much done using all the available shot charge in 10-12" of barrel, most gas guns will show increased velocity with longer barrels. Marvin is also very correct in stating that valving has a big influence on efficiency.

How loud is the report with the 24inch barrel?

Matt it is a little louder than the discovery at this point . It is wasting air and I am still bringing it down as far as psi fill goes . You have to remember the more air you push the louder the noise . This is my condor with the striker weight removed and a talon tank . The rifle was pretty quite with the striker weight removed and the condor tank filled to 1300 psi . It had good performance and low fill rate not wasting a lot of air .If it was shrouded at that point is would be whisper quite I think . Jeff , Long Island Hunter has a shrouded condor in .22 . You might get him to do a low fill and give you a report on the noise level . Marvin

Marvin did you do any strings with 2600, 2700, 2800, 2900, 3000? With the Crosman 10.5 Gr. premier heavies.
