I was sitting and thinking tonight (in that place where I do a lot of it) and thought about a potentially useful "roll" for an empty toilet tissue tube. I need to get some monofilament line and clear tape to do this right. But the basic idea is to hang a sighting tube between the light defractors on the Chrony in order to serve as an cylindrical aim point when I line up to shoot over the Chrony. Whaddya think?

I think it is awesome. We can call it the TP mod. I have that chrony and have had fits with it in poor light. It sprouted a pellet hole in the front. I will replace those sticks with some dowels also if I can get it fixed. Then, I'm going to armor plate the thing.

Question.....Is the bog roll there because if the pellets pass though at diffren't hights the readings change ?
Thinking of getting a crony "Alpha 1"

Tommy, where were you sitting while you were doing this said thinkin???? some of my best thought process happen there.. A place to ponder...

About 4 inches over the photoelectric detectors is optimum. The tube is just a sight point to make sure I am lined up consistently. If the sight picture through the front and back of the tube are concentric, the the pellet should travel in a straight line over the detector. At very close range, however, if the sight picture is centered through the tube and the scope was say 2 inches over the bore, the pellet would actually pass just under the tube, but the alignment would still be consistent. Will have to play with this and see if it is actually helpful.

Potentially brilliant, would have saved me a couple hits and a lot of ERR1 displays due to angling. It might also help insure consistency between readings.
Keep thinking!

What I was really thinking was "Why didn't whoever was sitting here before me reload after using the last of the roll while they were sitting here?"
-
I thought all the ERR1s and ERR2s was from my inexperience shooting pellets through my chrony! I'm glad to hear that others have the same problems.
I started hanging a target on the outside of the far screen to make sure I was shooting at the same spot each time. BUT, occasionally, I would re-orient the rifle somehow and miss the first detector. This "invention" seems like it will keep you looking square down the "bore" of the chrony at all times.
Got a new Whisper that I am hoping to shoot today. I'll give it a try!

Here's another thought: Don't use heavy line, tape the line too tightly, or tie it off securely at the diffuser. Otherwise a "hit" on the tube or line just might give the deflector a big old "yank" that could get things out of whack.

Many a great thoughts have come from the "contemplation" room!!!! Wonder how often Einstein used that room when he came up with his theory on relativity?!?!?!? LOL's Neat idea Tommy!!! tjk

I just gave up and put a pellet trap on the #2 sensor on mine. I keep on shooting it and it just won't die.

We went through killing chrony's awhile back, several members tried to kill and did kill their chrony. Their hard to cook and don't taste that good but I came up with a chrony shield for mine to avoid this. It's a 1/2 thick piece of clear plexy that I mounted in front of the chrony and it's taken several hit's and held up. I also took some red pin stripping and marked the sweet area on the defuser rod's upper and lower and also on each side of the chrony eye's to show me where I need to aim to get a good readout, hasn't failed me yet. Great idea Tommy. Ed
