: got my MM tuned B26 2day
: shawn67 January 15, 2009, 06:24:14 AM
I got my new B26 from Mike at Flying Dragon Air Rifles today, this is the first springer that I have ever owned so I don't have a lot to compare it to, I have shot a couple of gamo's, a friend of mine has a .177 whisper and his kid has a shadow, so my experience is pretty much limited to powder burners, but I can give you a first time buyers impression. When I opened the box the first thing I noticed was the stock, its much nicer than I expected for a gun of this price, no blemishes at all, the stain is light colored but it has a very nice shine to it and the grain of the wood is even. The bluing of the barrel is nice also, there weren't any uneven spots, the only problem that I could find was the plastic adjustment wheel for elevation was broke in half, not a big deal because I plan on scoping the gun anyways but Bam should make them out of metal. I superglued it back together and its hardly noticeable, I'm sure this happened while the gun was being shipped to me, the barrel wasn't closed when I opened the box and being shipped all that way I'm sure it got jarred around pretty good. Anyways to the important stuff, how does it shoot? I took a minute to read the instructions and loaded it with a 14.3 grain beeman pointed pellet and fired it into a makeshift pellet trap\target(two phonebooks together with a shoot-n-see target applied) in front of a piece of plywood in the garage, it went all the way through the first phone book(about 2 and a half inches) and stuck about a quarter of the way in the second. I couldn't shoot for any distance today, Its below 0 outside and I hurt all over when its cold, I'm getting too fragile in my old age, lol. the trigger pull is very nice and light with no creep and breaks very crisp, would compare it to the trigger on my Beretta that I did a trigger job on, there wasn't any twang a lot quiter and smoother than my friends whisper, and the recoil was just a good firm push back, I didn't notice any torque at all, I was only twenty foot away from the target so I won't even try the gun for accuracy untill this weekend when the weather breaks and my scope should be here tomorrow. But just wanted to let you all know what I thought. Oh and thanks to Mike for a grat gun and a very nice buying experience

Glad you finally got it Shawn...I am sure that you will enjoy it.  I have already put about 150 pellets through mine (at my indoor target @ approx 28 feet).  I have tried 5 different brands of pellets so far (RWS Supedomes, RWS Super HP, Daisy Wadcutters, Predators, and Crossman Premier HP from WalMart.)  The RWS Super HP and the Crossman Premier HP are vying for top spot so far.  However, my best 5 shot group was when I shot one of each type at the same bullseye, so maybe it is just the shooter.

Stay warm and have fun,

Imadogman

I got some of those daisy wadcutters, and I was suprised at how big of a hole they left compared to a .177 wadcutter, it was a lot bigger than I thought. Its supposed to be in the 40's by this weekend so I'll get the scope mounted and zeroed in, then these dang blackbirds are in for it, they are doing their best to repaint my truck white! Lol

Shawn,
The first thing I did was take the sights off mine. It's looks a lot better to me without them on there. I like B26 from Mike so much I shipeed a Whisper to him today for a tune. The more you shoot it the better it will get. Enjoy and I hope the weather breaks for you.

Thanks, I'd like to get a custom muzzle brake put on it and that would cover up the front dovetail and they look cool too, I can't wait to get the Leapers scope put on it, the little I did shoot it today (around 75 rounds) I could tell just with open sights it holds tight groups, I'm sure it will only get better as it gets broke in.

Shawn, For your first air gun you made a great decision with a B26 from Mike. I love mine. Mike turns out a great rifle. Post a pic when you get it set up. (http://../jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-wink.gif)

I would, but I'm using my blackberry(phone) to post with and I can't figure out how to do it, my computer got fried a few months back when lightning hit in my back yard. Now my son wants a "good" air rifle since he saw mine today, his 66 powermaster just aint getting it, So I guess I'm going to have to see what I can find that will work for him. I'm thinking about either a tech force, I forgot which number but it was one with a light cocking force aimed at younger shooters or a QB78 since they are Co2.  He just got a compond bow for christmas, Kids what can you do? Lol.

Congrats on your new purchase....and yes those MM B26 are fantastic from what I've read.  Those blackbirds are in a world of pain once you set your sights on them.....open or scoped.  She'll get the job done.
