I'm still a babe in the woods on airgun tuning but learning fast, What's the reason for shrink wrapping the spring guide.? Is it for a snug fit and reduce spring play and are we talking of the shrink wrap used for wiring. Discription of how it's done would be a plus.Thanks Ed

You're right, it's the cheap mans way of sizing up a spring guide to eliminate buzz or twang. IME, it works very well on a number of AG's I own. It's really easy, just clean and dry the guide, I use a utility knife to cut very shallow grooves in the guide(if plastic)or rough up the surface(if metal)to give the tubing something to grab onto when applied. I use a five minute epoxy(sparringly)to help keep the tubing in place. Leave about a half inch of tubing over the end of the guide and with the adhesive on the guide shrink it down with a controlled flame(be careful if the guide is plastic). Let it cool and dry, and trim excess from the end before you try to reinstall. Also, depending on the tolerance between spring and guide you may have to use more than one layer of the tubing or find a thinner product if one layer is to thick. I've used this method on HW, Diana, and CZ rifles with great, long lasting results. HTH,
