: Broke down today...

I made the one and a half hour drive to North Battleford today and picked up an AW version HW30s in .177 from Illingworth's. I'd wanted one for quite a while and today I just broke down and said 'screw it, I'm going and getting it'. It perfectly rounds out my Weihrauch collection, and is unique to the ones I already have because of the black and nickel finish. I forgot how compact the rifle really is, though the length of pull is equal to that of a Diana 24.

I was originally going to get a standard version(blued steel and beech stained stock)but when I noticed that they had the AW version with factory open sights I couldn't take my eyes off of it. It's as sweet as they come IMO, and though I've handled and shot this model of HW before I can't beleive I've gone this long without having one of my own. The way this rifle handles and functions gives you a false impression of a lack of power, but really it's doing a solid 7.5fpe out of the box.

Enough typing! I'm going to plink! LOL!

Thanks Mark,

I could have spent the money on a digital camera, then I'd have pics, but no new gun! LOL!

Well I've got about a tin of pellets through this little beauty now, and decided to give it a home tune to help things along. The spring is small in this rifle, and in classic HW fashion the ends of the spring were rough and needed to be smoothed and debured, the piston was slathered in lube so everything got cleaned out, debured, polished, and relubed. To finish off, heatshrink tubing on the guide to remove the light 'buzz' in the shot cycle. The result is super smooth, quiet, and the cocking effort is so easy I bet my 6yr old could operate this thing! Oh yea, did I mention that it is accurate?lol!
