: Where to get AR1000
: rob10s2 January 25, 2009, 10:25:35 AM
Hello all,
I am looking to purchase either a BAM B28 or an AR1000 in the near future. However, I cannot seem to find somewhere online to buy the AR1000. Also, in general, which gun is better. Accuracy, trigger, FPS, etc. This is in .22. Thanks!

Look for TF89, or Beeman SS1000H (RS2 or RS3, not the 1). I forget the other variants but this is a start.

And  the RS-2 is stocked at Wal-Mart for $129 pretax. $20 less the then have the Big Cat listed for.

You can buy a Hammerili Titan for around $100.00 and it is the same air rifle but a bit better quality.

I got mine from Walmart (model 1073) - it is the Beeman RS2 model w/ the interchangeable barrels. After a teardown and polish & lube job it turned into a very nice shooter and powerful as well (http://thread-view.asp?tid=13817&mid=111031#M111031). Just make sure its the one with the adjustable trigger (two small screws and one big one) and not the non-adjustable version - Walmart has a liberal return policy since its not a firearm.

I don't have a B28, but from what I've seen (http://thread-view.asp?tid=13107&mid=110499#M110499)  for numbers its a bit more powerful than the AR1000 family. I've heard accuracy is good on these once you learn to shoot them, I can tell you from experience that the AR1000 (RS2) is capable of one-holers at 25 yards if you do your part but you have to stay very focused to do it - it is pretty hold sensitive. The trigger is quite nice on the AR1000, maybe not as good as it can be out of the box, but the adjustable version can be made very good with a small screwdriver and some patience. I was surprised at the level of fit an finish inside the RS2 when I tore it down. It only needed a minimal deburr and the seal was tight and in good shape and no rust on anything. The only real problem was that it was full of thick, nasty, gray grease. Having shouldered a RWS 350 and having shot the RS2 a lot I'll say this - if it were my first springer I'd go for the AR1000/RS2. If I was looking to move up from something I already own I'd go with the B28.

Just my $.02

Gene,

Where can you get a Hammerli Titan?  My next rifle will be one of the AR1000 variants most likely, but I would love to go for the Titan instead.

Thanks,

Bobby

Hey Gene, can you toss me the names of those places offering this for about $100? Thanks. I would not mind having a third one in that style for that price, but the only Titans I've found have been in the mid $150's. I like the checkered stock, but it's not a must have. What specifically was better, quality wise with the mechanicals? So far I've been pretty impressed and to tell the truth and have not found too much to complain about with the Beeman branded version. If they are all made on the same line (like the Pinto and Bobcat or the Camaro- Firebird twins were) it would seem the quality issue with any of the versions would be the luck of the draw.

The Titan is .177. http://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com generally has them for $108. The .22 variants are not as powerful as the B28. The numbers I have seen with a .22 AR1000 run about 730-750 fps with 14.3 CPs. My B28 goes 870+ fps with the same pellet. The B28 is a somewhat difficult AG to shoot accurately. The B28 has a very lengthly lock time due to the long barrel and power plant. A shorter barrel should help. The B28 is my only AG that has a different POI from off hand to bench rest. I don't like that.

Thanks. I saw the one at Umarex @ $152, not the one you pointed out. If you don't mind not having the 2 calibers, that is an EXCELLENT value. For the $21 extra, I think the Wal-Mart dual barrel version is a steal, especially since PA has it at $179 with both barrels. And IF there is a problem, Wally world is just a drive down the street without the need for additional shipping costs. Now, that being said, and being that the Titan only seems to come in one caliber or the other, not a dual option, is this the “quality" weak point? I know I have read LOTS of complaints of the RS-2 barrels coming loose, and the POI change (the poi change is only to be expected, since the scope/sights are not barrel mounted) that result from changing barrels. I have used Loc-tite and not had a problem with the loosening barrels. Otherwise, I found little to none as far as issues with the stamping and assembly quality, certainly no more than my Spanish built Gamo. And this gun just does not seem as high strung as the Gamo, feeling more "laid back" if you will (in other words, the Gamo performance is like a built high strung 4 cyl engine, where the RS2 seems to be a brawny but less refined V8, already making the same or slightly more power of that high strung 4 cyl, but capable of a LOT more, given the right modifications.)

Unfortunately, Midsouth Shooters Supply is backordered on the .177 Hammerli Titan (http://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/item.asp?sku=000622241010)  right now with no known date when they'll get new rifles in house.  They don't appear to carry the Titan in .22 at all.  My local Wal-Mart has the Beeman RS-2 with both barrels for $125, so that's probably going to be my next 'fix'.  Just need to sell off a few things to get the cash ;-)

I would check the flyers of Big 5 if you have those where you live.
Otherwise I could check a local dealer down the road from my house for you.

thats nice, but man i wish my wal mart had the beeman. $25 less, 2 calibers, and scoped. i might have to visit other local cities wal marts haha. plus then i dont have to pay shipping.

Why visit others? Go to your local one and hae them do the checking for you. If ours is out of something, they have done that for us, and in fact, had it sent to our store. Now not all may carry this one, and as such, they may not be able to have it brough in local, but at least they can tell you which one to go to.

There are three Wal-Marts around me.  Currently, only one has the RS2 in stock.  The others have said that they haven't been restocked yet after the holidays and inventory.

Two other Wal-Marts near my wife's work carries it and has it in stock.

Also, I almost left one store thinking it wasn't there (because I'd never seen one) but looked closer to find the "1073" on the box.  Don't remember seeing a reference to "RS2" easily visible on the box.

Your profile doesn't have a location, but if you are near Monroe, GA, they had about five last time I was there a week or so ago.

Good Luck.

Could it be a state restriction?  I know there are shipping restrictions to various states, so that might be a possibility.
