looking for a new PCP for backyard plinking, unfortunately my neighbors are total
idiots and complain about every little noise & my FX Gladiator .22 sounds like a rimfire.
what is the quietest PCP i can buy out of the box without spending a fortune having
add-on custom shrouds made ?
i never really shoot more than 50-60 yards and carbine length is nice but i don't
want to sacrifice noise for a shorter barrel if i don't need to.
so far it looks like the BSA Super 10 bull barrel and the FX Whisper are in the lead but
what do you recommend ?
airgun dealers should post videos of their rifles so buyers can hear for themselves
just how quiet they are.

Well, even the talon SS needs "help" in order to be backyard friendly. Fully shrouded fancy expensive rifles probably do better in that department.
Sometimes a youtube search might help you find vids of different rifles.

i don't understand your question, i want something for backyard plinking and pigeon sniping at 50-60
yards or less. i want a multi-shot preferably with quick-fill option, bolt or side-lever cocking. noise is the
biggest issue !

Sometimes the sound of the pellet hitting the trap/target (even a so called silent trap filled w/ Duct Seal) can make more noise than the rifle itself. The two rifles you mentioned (FX Whisper and BSA S-10 BB) are probably the quietest factory rifles. I have never shot either one so I can't say which one would get my vote. If you're doing shooting in your backyard (you didn't specify what your distance is), plus your neighbors being an issue, do you really need a full power PCP? Maybe one with adjustable power (like some of the FX models or a Air Arms) and turn the power down. I don't know if the BSA's are adjustable and if so how much can you turn them down or how difficult is it to do. Turning the power down will help make things as quiet as possible. Then if you go hunting or shooting at longer ranges, turn the power back up.

two BSA's seem to fill the bill. Are others, but these are the ones I've heard for myself: BSA Ultra bull barrel and the BSA Scorpion T-10. "bull barrel" refers to a permanently mounted shorud; are made to be quiet and are. The Ultra is basically an 18 foot pound rifle (in .22) which is enough for 50-60 yard shots. The Scropion is faster, to about 30 foot pounds (.22). Think Airguns of Ariszona has the Ultra for $780 and the Scorpion for about $900.
Are others that I've heard with add-on Shrouds that are just as quiet....but somehow i think you're looking for factory installed gear.

I had the opportunity to shoot all of the guns mentioned above Friday at AOA. I shot the Daystate line, BSA line and the FX line-up of rifles. I to was looking for the most quiet and long range rifle. BSA's in shrouds were quiet but I really wanted adjustable power and quietest. I picked a FX Cyclone. Extremely quiet on low power (15FPE) and quiet on high power (32FTE) more than enough for 60 yards shots. You could shoot that Cyclone on low power in a church and no one would ever know. However, did not shoot the Air Arms line and I know they are quiet too.

Like Rib said. BSA Ultra Bull Barrel. BSA Scorpion T10 or the AA410 series are pretty quiet.

My BSA Ultra Multi Shot .177 (with the moderator on the end of the barrel) is close to church friendly, does CHP's in the high 800s. Super Ten BB .177 is quite a bit louder even with the tighter baffles I put in. Logun S-16Xs .22 is all but silent, does .22 14-15 grain stuff in the low 900s, is quieter than any of my BSA's. With any of these, you would want a "MuzzleBrake" on your target.

I've a .22 BSA Scorpion T-10 that's really quiet......alot more quiet than the over-hyped Gamo Whisper. The Scorpion should fit your requirements....10 shot clip, quick-fill, does 28 FPE, quiet ((bull barrel - full shroud) I do alot of basement shootings....and she sounds like someone is spitting).
I've read that the FX Whisper T-12 is supposed to be even more quiet with it's bull barrel-shrouded barrel. She's the next PCP I'm looking at....in .177

My Talon with the Talontunes shroud shoots JSB exacts in .22 at 900 fps. It sounds like a kid shooting a spit wad, until the pellet hits its target. Very accurate, and the gun and shroud would be around 700 bucks. Not as pretty as the FX Whisper, but cool if you like that look.

I have a BSA Scorpion T10 Bull Barrel 22 cal., about all I hear from the gun is a click when I pull the trigger. The most noise comes from hitting the target. I needed a quiet gun too, because my neighbors are close. This gun fits the bill perfect! It's also got enough power for when I go hunting. Great for shooting squirrels.
