Never mention GRT Trigger over there. I made an answer to a guys post on Gamo triggers suggesting he look in to getting one. I was promptly deleted and told never to mention it again. As I suspected they are not to helpful over there and I have never gotten a good answer to any questions I posted. Oh well I won't go back. It has been much better over here. Many helpful and nice people. Thank You
-
Very unfriendly group, I swore I would never go back over there.
Never mention the trigger or our beloved Tuna Guy.
-
I don't know what the problem is. I am pretty new to airgun scene and I posted a few questions over there and no help at all.
-
Hang around here bud. This is the best air gun forum in the world.
Long story about the "issue" and not worth the breath.
Only thing you need to know is that CDT is the best.
Welcome to the best forum on the net.

Kinda Messed up ain't it. You know,...Sometimes we get that kind of negativity on this site regarding the Tuna and Gene, but think about this,.....I'm a moderator,...i know I'm not the most knowledgable son of a gun on this site, and I do my best,....but I've made mention of buying an 'EZ-Pull' trigger assist, and no ones ever raised a stink about it or theatenned to "ban" me. Sure, if I have a rifle that is GRT-III 'friendly' I'll get one and install it,.....and I have,...best $30 you'll ever spend, and I will further advise anyone to purchase the trigger if they have the appropriate rifle. Some rifles won't take the GRT-III trigger, ... and because of this, I'll look for the best and easiest cure for a 'trouble' trig. So far I haven't been deleted or harrassed for possibly "going against the flow", or ruffleing anyones feathers. The GTA is a neat forum, and you as well as alot of folks will make many friends and associates. I'm glad you're among us Bill,...and if you ever have a question to ask,....no matter how elementary or silly you may think it is,....just ask. Someone on this forum WILL answer your pleas. The GTA is a Great Place to Be!!! tjk

I like the Russian reference. I was thinking some thing else. I just tuned my first rifle. I learned everything about how to do it on here. I have been using the Chinese rifles so far with a pair of Beeman RS2's. Good shooters and accurate. The tuned one is like night and day from the other gun. I will do that one soon too. I just don't have the money for the fancy stuff now and I don't mind working on something to make it better. Thanks for all the help so far.
-
I too have had an experience in the other forum by merely mentioning a name and a trigger. Guess that's why I spend all of my "quality" time in here. There is a bias over there and a "gestapo" approach to the mere mention of certain things. They can keep their country club...
-
I just asked to be banned so I can never go back.
-
PM soon to be sent... check your mailbox to see why I was banned... you're gonna get a kick out of this!
-
Always up for a good story.

I thought that this was The Only "Real" Forum...a real bunch of great people, willing to share their hobby and sport of Air-Gunning. Back to the other...well even from a Jack-A you can learn what not to do! The GTA is like a band of brothers! ... And it is Kinda like Dallas...does anyone else play football?

No biggie Mike,
Network 54, Old Yellow !

That's why, The GTA IS THE BEST AIRGUN FORUM ON THE INTERNET !!!!!
And, The GTA IS A GREAT PLACE TO BE !!!!!

Y'all better watch out. I heard that Gene & Bob were gonna' stop cuttin' slack for this kind of offence :D . Oh, & I gotta' one owner bridge for sale!!

Better be careful, my friend! I saw your post. So did their Moderator. He's always watching!

Shame when bad blood clouds good judgement. You can't even think about the GRT while browsing there. Get a shock through the keyboard! (If they could, they would.) That's one nice thing about here. No name calling, aspersions, deletions. I don't want to get into it, but they've taken it to the Hatfield - McCoy level. Sad. :0

Or more accurately, some of the people there, because there are some really good people there. The forum owner is a hard a$$, who has a personal vendetta against Bob and this forum, but he is the owner, and therefore gets to make the rules. And he has all his moderators primed to enforce those rules ruthlessly, ESPECIALLY where Bob is concerned. But there is a lot of good info available there if you're willing to dig for it. Their Classifieds buy and sell more guns in a month than ours does in a year, and the BOI is a really nice idea. For those not familiar with it, BOI is the Board of Inquiry, and is where buyers and sellers can post feed back on their transactions. It's a good way to check up on a potential purchaser/seller. Multiple sub-forums, much like here, and lots of traffic. I've had posts deleted, and I've been banned several times, but I've given up tilting at wind mills. Now, I email people direct if they're obviously looking for the GRT III if I can, along with an invite here. Especially since the ONLY advice they get is Rich in Mich, but I'm not even going to get started there. So, use what you can, and ignore the crap, knowing we've all got a nice little home here. For those that want to check it out, here's the link: http://www.network54.com/Forum/79537/ It's worth a look, and as long as you don't mention Bob or the GTA, you'll be fine. Later.

I use that yellow forum, mostly for Big Bore PCP guns.

Well, as long as we're getting serious I guess I'll go along for a while. Back in '06 when Gene had his little problem with Steve Ct & around that same time when Bob & Steve NC (I think that's right) had a falling out, Gene (or Gene & Bob) started this forum. I, in my uninformed state, joined this forum. Well within a day or two I began to receive e-mails from Steve Ct that were full of language I wouldn't use in a Firehouse, accusations of posting irreverent things about the yellow along with threats of bannishment from what is apparently the only worthwhile airgun forum in the world. I managed to keep it together long enough to sever my ties with the yellow without losing my temper completley & saying things I would later regret.
Having gotten all that out of my system (after almost 3 years) I have to say I agree that there are a large percentage of fine people over there. There are also a few of the nastiest individuals I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. So, I guess I've put the icing on my cake :emoticon: .
Oh, & Steve, when you read this (& I am sure that you will), if you want to contend that your innocent I still have your vicious e-mails.

Might want to read this thread for a bit more about the politics of triggers, tuning, and long-term grudge holding. Make your own judgements, though.

I generally try to stay apolitical where air gunning is concerned. But I just figured out very early on that I much preferred to hang out on a forum where folks seemed a bit friendlier, less elitist, and much more helpful. It is probably true that the "Yellow" is bigger and the classifieds more extensive than here on the GTA. But quality can be more important than quantity. And personally, I think American Airguns is one of the best "un-jaundiced" places to just browse the "classifieds" if you are shopping for or selling an air gun.

Yes Red,
It's a shame that they spend so much time worrying about US !, THE GREATEST PLACE TO BE!!!, that they don't have time to answer questions, or make any friends !
But some people live to be miserable :( what a shame :(

Tommy:
I lived through that hoorah, & the seemingly unending whining that was a large part of it. I, like you, would just as soon adopt a neutral position. As you can see, I've been vocal enough without getting involved in a trigger dispute that I know nothing about.
The only rifle I've got that would even be involved is a TF-58 & Mike Melick did such a good job on the original trigger that I don't think I'll mess with it.

Yep. Life too short and there is little enough time to enjoy shooting air rifles without getting enmeshed in all of that on line. And we should always remember that anything posted on the internet is essentially "forever". Nasty comments have a way of coming back and biting you in the backside. So let us all try to practice a bit of courtesy, tolerance and good manners when we post, even when we disagree. That, after all, is what moderation is about and should be the only agenda a "Moderator" pursues, IMHO.
-
I agree that there are some good people there but it is very biased. I asked a simple question once and was treated like a dummy. Glad to have founf the GTA thru the American Airgun site.
-
the thing that bugs me with Other forum is that its not just the a couple of guys any more they converted most of the yellow against da tuna i don't know whatever ones problem is there is to much of this in the Air Gunning world just like mr. frilly big bore changeling Dennis. (Dennis = tuna) (mr.frilly = other forum members) i don't get why some people tune a hand full of guns call them self's masters and then disregard has trash one of the most respected aspects of the airgun tuning world.
-
I think it is good that folks are stating their experiences, good and bad on another forum. I do pop into the Yellow forum daily and have used their classifieds for several air gun transactions. There are a large number of very good foks that contribute to that forum too. I wish that we all could let the infighting and politics go and just enjoy our common passion for our sport. I'm pleased that this thread hasn't erupted into a flaming mess. Let's keep it that way. Thanks one and all.

I agree 100% Dave...I've traded mail with Steve on a few occasions and he's always been polite and helpful even though he knows I consider GTA to be my friends..You just don't mention it same way you don't mention the "S" word here..You break the rule and a hammer falls, Gene and Steve swing that hammer different but it still falls...I don't agree with or like all the policy's set forth by either forum owner but I like both forums so I don't make waves..much..
I will say by far that I consider GTA folks to be the nicest...Lotta good people here who are willing help and for what's it's worth I consider this my airgun home..
Just an idiots personal take on the subject.....
EDIT: I Realize I made a bad comparison between a personal grudge and possible legal matter...Just saying that both forums have their own particular rules that will get ya thumped if broken..
-
I am glad this didn't turn into a mess. I was concerned about that.It seems that we are all adults here and conduct ourselves in that manner. I am waiting for a reply from their moderator to an email I sent telling him politely where he can stick his attitude.

I guess you are alluding to their on/off tirade against certain air gun tuners here who, in their humble (?) opinion, don't meet their standards. I find it hard to compare their observations against the stream of testimonials which come through here on a daily basis. Maybe it's a case of us on this side not being enlightened enough to know the difference. Me, I drink beer from the bottle and from the can, so I guess my standards are on the low side. Still, not long ago I passed up a seemingly good deal on a fully tuned CFX. Might have been Jock Elliot's. Anyway, the deal killer, for me, was that the tuner (from the other forum) offers as part of his tune needle bearings and I think these were included with this tune package. I did some research and saw CDT's comments on guns he has seen pretty much destroyed by these, and that settled it for me.

Hey Brent buddy,
There is no policy here prevents Steve's name from being mentioned :) or Forum 54, or the Yellow Forum.
We have many, other forums listed in our Library, and information is not censored here !
I feel that Steve has helped our forum grow, and probably has helped sell a lot of GRT-III triggers. By making everything here, censored there, he has created interest in the GTA, and the GREAT GRT-III trigger ! And people want to know, and ounce they get here, they can't go back, and why would they :)
Now as for the past, Bob and Gene have moved on with their lives, and do not enjoy repeating the WHY, WHEN, WHERE, WHO'S and HOW'S, every time a new member joins up. Just as there are many of us, that don't dwell on the past in our lives, or relive it weekly !
As for me, I judge a Man by his works and deeds, and I see Bob and Gene as Great Men ! Giving us the BEST AIRGUN FORUM on the INTERNET !!!!! And SUCH A GREAT PLACE TO BE !!!!! Freely giving us there knowledge, information and most importantly Friendship !
All I want to say is: THANK YOU BOB AND GENE, FOR GIVING US SUCH A GREAT PLACE TO BE !!!!! And For Being Our Friends !!!!!

That object who's name shall not be uttered................... 8)

Well I guess he told me. No major loss. I don't think any thing got bashed just a discussion of how it can be over there versus here. I didn't call him out he posted his e-mail address and said I should write if I had any questions why I was deleted. I did and this is the answer. Ok I get it. Enough said
-
That's just how it is. Hang up your guns or get out of Dodge. I can see disallowing posts on the GRTIII since there was an ownership dispute, valid or not. But they don't even allow referencing a post to this forum which may contain nothing about triggers or personalities. That's just not right. I've posted links to salient Yellow threads here because it's easier than copying them and re-posting. Also posted links to here and the Yellow on the Diana Werke Collective and they haven't minded so far. That's what the internet is supposed to be about. Unfortunately, human nature is what it is.
-
That is my plan it is a no win situation. Glad I am here.
-
One more time, then I'll quit :D I have to put this here, cause they sure ain't gonna' let me over there.
Mike in NC: When you write "The GTA is a great place to come to bash the yellow" I would refer you to the yellow Chinese forum, pg.2, 01/18/09, titled:"edited due to a reference to a disallowed forum". Maybe people who live in glass houses etc. etc.
How about an agreement? We all retire to our respective corners & just let it go.

OK, We've all had our say, one way or another. I'm of the opinion that this thread has run it's course and is now getting to the point of becomming another protracted, non-productive thread. I'm freezing it now, and will move it to the non-productive posts shortly. I'll welcome and address any sincere, productive PMs. Thanks all.
