if you change over from a 22 to a 25 cal, can you switch back down to a 22? also i heard that there are .308 airforce guns, is this true? if so does anyone have one?

i want to switch over to a 25 cal to use the surefire slugs for long rang (75yards+) groundhog shots, but i would like to use a 22 for litter and closer things

The nice thing about the Air Force platform is that you have a myriad of options.  I have a .22 Talon with the 18 inch barrel and also have a .22 Condor with the 24 inch barrel.  You can literally swap barrels back and forth, you can even swap tanks and put a standard tank on a Condor or visa versa.

There shouldn't be any problem switching back and forth between a .22 and .25 barrel, I'm just not sure if you'd need a heavier hammer weight for the 25,,, but even if you did swapping them out is no big deal.

Harry has a 25 Condor,,, he could probably answer your question in more detail.

As for the Groundhog shots,,,,, if you were shooting a .22 Condor with either the Kodiaks or Eunjins  I think you'd be able to whomp those groundhogs pretty well at longer ranges.

I love groundhog hunting and spend most of the summer hunting them at the duck farm I pest hunt at.  My springers and my 18" Talon .22 work very well but I wound up getting the .22 Condor specifically for long range groundhog hunting.  BTW.... I took quite a few G-hogs out to 40 yards with my Talon firing CPH's in the 900 FPS range with no problem.

Depends on whose .25 cal. kit you end up with.  I believe Tony of Talon Tunes does a kit that's a direct drop in replacement, but I think it wants a Condor tank behind it for best performance.  Someone else also does a .25 conversion, but I think his has a larger breech diameter, and therefore requires a different breech slider as well.  Either one can be changed back to a stock configuration quickly and easily.

I looked at doing a .25 conversion when I had Talons, but ended up deciding the bang for the buck just wasn't there.  Not enough of a power increase over the .22, pellet choice is even more limited than .20, and the extra weight at the same velocity results in a loopy trajectory.  I had my Talon with custom valve and 24"  .22 barrel doing 950 fps with Kodiaks, thats just over 42 fpe.  Per Chairgun, at 100 yards POI will drop 11", energy is down to "only" about 20 fpe.  That's with a scope height of 2.8" and a 50 yard zero.  That'll kill a g'hog deader than hell, if you're good enough to actually hit it :-).  If it was me, I'd stick with the .22.  Later.

i only real reason i want a .25 is to just chuck surefire slugs out at long range, i've looked at some of them, and they're really packing some heat, even at 100 yards their going though like a 4x4

I went hunting with a buddy that has a rapid in .25, it hits HARD. I want to get a .25 from Tony for my Condor.
