i like the looks of the b30 a little better in terms of length its a bit shorter which is good because this will become my main hunting gun. i would all so like to mount a scope so i am wonder which one would better handle a scope (not break it). and what kind of safety does the b30 have and do they work?. ps yes i plan on buying from mike

wow a b28 tuned under 200 any one know how much b30 are i think they retail less then b28.

I paid $230 for my B28 From MM tuned and shipped. Maybe he has dropped his price.

I don't have a B28 but I do have a B30 in .22 that I tuned with James Maccari parts and I love it. It's averaging 765 fps with RWS Superdomes. I like the fact that it's fixed barrel, though mostly for looks. I like the fact that a bipod is easy to install on it, as are sling swivels. I polished the trigger parts and tuned it using a Maccari tune kit and seals for an RWS48. It's powerful and accurate. I'd recommend buying one tuned from Mike Melick. Go ahead and cough up the extra $$ to have him use Maccari parts. They're SO worth it.

I have a B30 in .177. I love it's power and accuracy.

Both are great guns for the money but your almost comparing apples to oranges. The B-30 is nice and compact but weighs in just over 9 lbs unscoped and its a side cock. The B-28 is longer lighter but with the right saw can become a carbine. Most important thing is to get a good crown recut. Either is a good choice especially from MM. If you are only going bench shoot and not hike with it then the B-30 is a great choice. I hiked with my Patriot at 11.5 lbs and it sucks after a couple hours.

weight is not a issue in at all i plan to go hunting in the deep woods (my back yard). the only thing is do you think the b30 will chop my fingers off? like my other side lever tries so hard to do.

It can and does happen. Just remember bear trap or not always best to practice safety an hold the cocking lever while loading the gun. Same type of thing can happen with the break barrel but you keep your fingers. You just wake up feeling like you have a hang over. The 30 is hell on scopes but the leapers TS 3-9x40 in a accushot 1 piece mount should do the trick. One survived on my Webley Patriot and it shot superdomes 14.3 gr @ 940 fps almost 30fpe.

I am a fan of the carbine short barrel. But I just finished my 28 stock and its a full barrel and its the best balanced rifle I have held. Granted its a custom stock but its not as barrel heavy as my 34 prior to me cutting it down. Pics coming up later !
Which one is more accurate? Is the B30 less sensitive to how you hold it than a break barrel? Is the accuracy similar to a CFX?
