through my experience (and most everyone in the forum) most "hunting" (read pointed) pellets don't group well. Why is that? I've read it has something to do with the aerodynamics of it, but then why do predators group so well? when are these companies going to figure out how to manufacture a decent pointed pellet to compete with the predators? I would gladly fork out a few bucks for a pellet that had the penetration and accuracy of a predator for half the price....

I do have great success with Tomahawks and Destroyers, a full lead version of the Predator in a way. All my tuned B3's like the Gamo Master point's also. Ed

Ya know, it's funny, pointed pellets are supposedly designed to give greater penetration for hunting, and yet, everyone bad mouths the .177 as a hunting caliber because it "over penetrates"! I think the problem with pointed pellets it that they're not concentric, so that instead of spinning, they cork screw through the air. The longer the range, the worse the cork screw. Don't know if I'm right, but that's my theory, for what it's worth. I just know they've never shot worth a damn for me in anything, and ignore them. For the shooting I do, whether targets or critters, I find a quality domed pellet does what I need it to do. Since I shoot PCP's, I can use heavy pellets like Kodiaks and CPH's, even Eun Jins, which give excellent accuracy and down range energy. You know, if enough of us don't buy something, eventually it goes away, or gets improved. The other option is to contact the manufacturer. Later.

I thought of the same 'cork-screw' theory myself Dave,...but I was proven wrong from the "Cardew" bible of air-gun writ and wisdom?!?!?? What-ever!!!,...but the only 'pointed pellet' I've found to give tight groups thus far are the .22 cal Beeman Silver-Stings. About even with the JSB Preds,...and maybe a little better on a good day. Conformity and uniformity seems to be the major factor with pointed pellets. If not exactlly perfect,...they will fly wild!!! This seems to be the catylist,....or make or break,.... for 'pointers'. If in fact they could be mass produced in a flawless condition,...then perhaps they would be the most accurate pellet made,...given the barrel they are shot out of is pristine in form and presice rifleing is adhered to,....yeah right?!?!?! I reckon that's why domes are the prefered ammo of choice,...their arrow-dynamics are a bit more foregiving in that aspect of 'accuracy',......... just my thoughts, tjk

Pointed pellets don't shoot well at all in my guns except for my cheap chinese shooters. For some reason my B-3's, QB-57's, Fast Deer's and B3-1's shoot the cheap crosman pointed pellets and the pointed gamo pellets very well,, not sure exactly why but it works for me :)
Perhaps it has something to do with the lower FPS ??? Whatever the reason I use em in the backyard with my chinese guns and they regularly take pests.....

Thanks for the info guys - I'll stick with the JSB exacts for now, and when I absolutely need a humane kill, I'll go with the predators. Thomas, I've tried the silver stings in my .20 RX2, and they'll punch the same holes for 2 or 3 shots and then one will go off the map :0 Kodiaks are money with my RX - not too many critters that can take a hit with one from <30 yds... can't wait to try the all lead predators

Yea the Crossman Super points Really Sucked out of my crossman G1 Extreme. But I don't know whether that was due to them being too large in diameter and would just barely fit in the barrel.

Me too.....I`ve 3 tins of them.....and they don`t work well with any of my 1000fps airguns. I`ll try them with the lower powered 1377 pistol.....maybe they`ll shoot good.
In general...the dome pellets work best for most of my airguns.....

Yea I've found the crossman Hollowpoints and the Gamo Hunters work very well. I bought two tins of Preadator Polymags and have yet to shoot them... hopefully they'll shoot well.

Interesting. In my Crosman 1077 I find the Gamo Masterpoints to be one of the three best pellets.I've got some pretty good groups at 39 feet,like 3/8".
