--- Was puttering in the garage and walked out to the work truck and 10 feet away was one of the rabbits that got away from me yesterday on my Christmas hunt. Went back to get my "garage gun" and when my "new" Gamo 440 and I got to the door, the rabbit hit the road. As the gun was loaded I took at walk down the drive to see if I could flush out the Running Rabbit when I spooked two big jacks. They took off like jets but I tried the old whistle routine and one came to a stop about 45 yards out. After yesterday I was feeling my oats so I took my shot and heard the Gamo Hunter hit with a good "Thwack". I walked up to about 25 yards to get a clear second shot and the jack moved off into a clear area and sat down again. At about 35 yards I put one in the neck and down he went for good. As you can see, even this young buck is pretty big.
--- I cannot tell you how many times I have not been able to get glass on a quick moving jack with all the brush and small trees we have. I am now 4 for 4 with the Gamo 440 and the Gamo Hunters seem to shoot to about the same point of impact as the RWS Super Domes and they sure do a good job. By the way, this gun has a Turbo Tune and GTX trigger by The Tuna. The trigger is not yet as sweet as the one on my GTX but it is far above any stock Gamo. The gun shoots very neutral with no twang but it has a good recoil. Think I will be buying myself a chrono to check out my guns/ammo choices.
--- This Gamo 440 has the same hole size in the butt pad as my CFX and that lets you put 26 pellets at your hand with no rattle or need to open a can. I am looking for the right material to drill and then mount along the top edge of the stock where my loading hand can find them in a hurry so my other guns can have the same setup.

Hey Bob, nice shooting buddy..:) Glad you are enjoying your new toy... hehe ... I am sure if you do the proper adjustments on that GTX trigger, you will get it where you want it. Easy to adjust down to lite pull but be careful..:)

MAN, look at the legs on that bunny, not to mention the ears. We have a few (JACKS) here in S.D., more towards the black hills.They are sure built for speed and a great radar system.Great shot and nice pics of JACK. Ed

That is one big bunny !! Certainly wish we had those things hoppin around here. Great shot and great pic. Just out of curiousity,,,,, do you eat them??? I've seen a couple of posts where people said jacks are tough and not worth eating,,, just wondering. Again,, great shootin. That rifle and you make one deadly team :)

Young jacks like this one are edible and not too tough but if they are over a year it is too much for me. JP Shelton has some posts on eating jacks I think. By the end of the year, lots of our rabbits and our jacks have picked up a few issues such as parasites and worse. When rabbit season opens in June I can shoot my limit of 10 per day in an hour if I work at it at all. Jacks are year round game with no limits but you only see 10 or so in a good day and then not in the middle of the daylight hours. I do not hunt at night, the rules are too hard to figure out and the neighbors are a bit spooked by lights and guns.
