: New Darkie here, need input
: ShadowShot February 25, 2009, 03:11:59 PM

Looking to get a pcp in .22. Accuracy a must, will use for hunting. I am looking for a tuned b51 like CFX's in the classifieds.
Any other suggestions welcomed. I would like to stay under an arm and leg price.  I will be happy with a good used set up, pump and all.
Trying to stay in the 400 to 500 range, if possible.

I know this is the type of post everyone wants to chime in on.

Thanks,
ShadowShot

The B50/51 would be a good choice, you might also be able to find an older AA S400E or an Air Force Talon in that price range.  If you can wait a few months, the new Benjamin Marauder will be out, I believe it's listed at $500.  Shrouded, 10 shot repeater, 2K psi fill, if it ends up only half as good as it sounds it's going to give some of the "Big Boys" a run for their money.  Best bet would be to have cash in hand and keep a frequent eye on the various Classifieds, here, YF, and Brad's are the ones I use.  Come to think of it, all 4 of my current shooters came off ad's on Brads's.  Let me know if you need links.

Check out Roald's 850 store and click on "Complete Rifles"

http://www.the850store.com/rifles.htm

The basic rifle is $550, ready to shoot, $650 with "C", mounts and scope.  900+ fps w/ 14.3 gr pellets.

Brads = American Airguns

http://www.airguns.net/

Although, I must confess that I have a hard time myself feeling comfortable spending $500 or so on a used rifle over the internet unless it is a reputable dealer I know and have done business with before.  New guns on the net are a risky enough proposition.  Bottom line, there is no substitute for knowing the person with whom you do business.

The Talons are sweet and dead nuts accurate! The 18" is 100 fps faster and more accurate than the 12" SS.

Paul,
Save your money!  Sell some of your powder burners, heck you don't use them anymore.  Get a world class PCP.  Don't mess around.  Just spoke to a guy that bought a FX Cyclone 5 years ago and put 60,000 pellets through it on his farm and only had a few minor problems that were easily fixable.  That's 120 tins of 500 pellets.  He has taken beavers up to 60#.  AA, BSA (Peakchicks favorite), FX, Daystate etc.  There is a FX Cyclone on the Yellow classifieds for $800.  Also remember you have to buy support for PCP's.

Good luck hunting,

Paul

Thanks T,

I just don't like the looks of that gun for some reason.
