: AG club In the Spring/Houston Area
: robbo1965 March 02, 2009, 12:40:51 PM
OK, here goes.  Since there are no local airgun clubs in my area of Spring/Houson, I thought we could use one.  It could be a club for just shooting around, or for fieldtarget, or whatever suits your fancy.  As for me, I don't get to shoot my airguns a whole lot, but would like to shoot more with others that are in the same situation..  If anyone is interested, just get in touch with me.  Thanks.

Why don't you come up to the Yegua Airgun Club?

Would like to get our group started out first.  Have severl people already interested.  Have met with one of the interested party, JWC already.  We're trying to find a place to shoot around our area where we won't bother anybody.  Which comes to my qurestion.  How did your club find it's place to shoot.  Do you have any ideas for us to follow up on?

Robbo, we got lucky basically.   Our club president and founder, Scott York, worked for the landowner.   The landowner no longer wanted to run cattle on the land due to its proximity to the busy state highway but wanted it to pay for itself.   If and when the lease is over, he'll also get to keep the improvements.   I would try to find a lease on some land that can't be developed for commercial and residential use.  This will likely close to a creek or on a flood plain.   I doubt you'll find anything near Spring very cheap.   Best guess would be to go west of Tomball .  IIRC you can't hunt or shoot even an airgun in Harris County on less than 40 acres of land.

Can you elaborate on this? What is IIRC?

If I Recall Correctly= IIRC  Most counties in Texas that have mixed urban rural areas, limit hunting and and shooting to areas large enough where a bullet won't carry and richochet out of the the owners property.      You'll have to check with your county to see the restrictions on hunting and discharging an airgun.
