: Am I reading this right?? SCBA question
: CFX Marauder March 10, 2009, 04:10:09 PM

Looking to buy a SCBA tankto fill myB51...I currentlypump to 105BAR(1522 PSI) and repump ataround 900 PSI.. A 3000 PSI 80cu tank shows this..

Tank Size = 80 cf
Tank Fill pressure = 3000 psi
Gun Fill pressure = 1522 psi
Gun Cylinder size = 196 cc
Gun Refill pressure = 900 psi

Number of fills = ~ 134

134 FILLS !!! One tank fill would last me all year with lilthe bit I shoot...

That's very close . Don't forget you lose some air in the bleed off of the hose and the longer the hose the more lose . But a 3000 psi tank can be filled to 3250 as well . Small short hose and you lose very little air .Marvin

Hi..Thats what I got....134 top ups from 900 to 1522psi
Imagine what I get from a 11 cubic metre Argon bottle
around 7 scuba tanks at your psi would be about 1000 top ups.
I ONLY get 600 at the psi I use

Hi..you will need a fill station to fit on the tank valve
most have a gauge and bleed valve on them.
it is possable to control the fill pressure with the tank valve.
Slowly slowly dose it or put a inline pressure requlator in
the line.
these are from the Pyd air web site

Yup...I always thought the gauge on the station showed what was in the tank and not the gun..

Hi..no its a open circut it will show whats in the line & gun
OR what in the whole system if you let it  equlize its self
But you would close the tank valve before it equilized @ 1522psi

Just a thought--give the guys at Airhog a call. I use them for all my fittings and hoses etc. They have good setups for scuba and carbon fiber tanks. Don't forget a scuba tank needs yearly inspection and possibly hydro. Carbon fiber goes five years between hydros.
