: Tank Filling Question
: TexasShooter72 March 13, 2009, 07:59:56 AM
I've got the itch to go pre-charged and had the itch for a while now.  Please forgive my naive question but if I were to purchase a scuba tank- 80 cu feet, 100 cu feet, whatever size-  WHERE do you guys go to fill them up???  I've got a buddy in Montana who's on a first name basis with his local fire department and he fills up there.

Just curious!

You need to find a dive shop, Matt, I know there's got to be one around you somewhere, check with Dan, he finally got a tank recently.  Another possible source would be an industrial gas supplier or welding supply house.  Even if they can't fill it, they might be able to point you in the right direction.  Good luck.

Hi..I use Argon in my PCPs , Nitrogen can be used
If yer want some reall power use Heilum as He under pressure when releast
it has a VERY hi pressure shock front that travels vastly faster the the gas body
behined it.

Not a dumb question at all. I live in central MS.  no dive shops here. I called the local welding supplier,
they said they could send it up north to be filled. That's more trouble  and cost than its worth.
I like the helium idea.

Also check fire stations, volunteer stations as well.  They have SCBA setups that go up to 4500psi and... a recharger!  Might have to purchase a charging adapter but you can make a few phone calls or walk in to check first.

Matt - I use a 44cu ft carbon tank with 4500psi.  If you do this make sure someone can fill to that pressure.  My local paint ball shop fills mine.  I get about 35 fills on my cyclone with extended tube and only $4.50 to recharge.  I used Joe Brancano who has used tanks, hose assembly's, guages etc.  My total cost was $365.  I know you can do it cheaper and the other Darksiders can cue in.   Good Luck

That really REALLY helps!  Spark, thanks for the tip on the Brownwood dive shop.  You too Dave...   ALL of you.  That werx!

I keep seeing all these Air Arms and other PCP's and here the first and only pre-charged pneumatic I've ever fired to this day has been a Dragon Slayer last fall!  The Darkside's been calling...
