: Advice for a Newbie

Hi all,

Been reading all the posts, learning a lot, and becoming a little confused also.
I am almost ready to order a Discovery, but am wondering if a 2260 might meet my needs just as well.  Just know for sure that I am about through with springers -- never have been able to hit well with them.

The guns main purpose is to stand behind the kitchen door ready for a quick shot at the ocasional starling at 15 to 30 yards.  Occasionally I will shoot 20 -30 shots at a target just to check the sights.  Total of maybe 100 shots a year.  But I might shoot more if I have an accurate rifle.

2 questions:

Can the 2260 be stored under pressure & ready for a quick shot ?  The manual says to bleed off pressure & remove power jet for storage.

What kind of accuracy should I expect from a stock, out of the box 2260 ?  It will be wearing a Leapers 3-9 X 32 AO scope.

Or should I just go ahead and get the Disco ?

Thanks for any advice or input.

Welcome to GTA!! Based on the info in your post I would sugest you get a 2260. The 2260 IMO is one of the best airun bargains around. Of the 3 I have owned,, I have loved them all. I was just shooting/testing mine yesterday,, I shot several one hole groups @ 25 yrds. You will want to order a steel breach for it though. I am using the Crosman brl clamp mounts on mine now,, they work "Ok",, but the steel breach is better. If you decide on the 2260 & need a set of brl clamps,, let me know,, I have several sets & Ill send you a set. I will try & take some pics today to post here for you. As far as leaving it charged,,, I do it all the time. Just DO NOT leave it charged in a hot car/truck,,this will certainly destroy the valve seal,, trust me,, I have done it 3 times!! Order a small tube of Pellgun oil,, put one drop on the tip of your powerlets to keep the seals in good shape. I have a nice Disco. also,, I LOVE it!! Its just that based on the info you provided,,, I think the 2260 will serve you well,,,, $80 vrs. $400 !! Hope this helps. Tim. Edit: Also to add,, the 2260/XX guns are VERY accurate,, no hold sensativity issues like with springers. You can shoot from a rest/leaning on a tree/doorway ect with repeat accuracy!!(http://../jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-cool.gif)

Tim,

Thanks for the advice and answers to my questions.
I ordered the steel breech this afternoon.  Also ordered the 2260 from Crossman.
Their price was the best I found on-line ($83.84) and their shipping charge was lower than most.

I really WANTED a Disco but couldn't come up with any reason I NEEDED one.  Maybe someday ?
