My finger has been "hovering" over the "buy" button on that Sportsmansguide blackhawk for a couple of days now.   With a $10 off coupon it would only be $79 bucks,,, that's kinda hard to beat....

I have always wanted to get a .177 Panther (I love my .22)  and I keep getting tempted to get this blackhawk and see how it shoots....

gotta resist,,,, gotta resist.......

The Ruger Gene reviewed had barrel droop. Does that mean this will also have droop?  If so, does that mean only a problem when you scope the gun?

Good Health!

Mike

Mike, a later post I put up I told the story. No barrel droop. It was the scope. It was my first BSA that went bad. I put a Bushnell on it and it shot fine. So there was no droop as far as I could tell. Redfeather owns the gun now so maybe he will chime in on this.

The way I look at this is the Ruger Air Hawks are total clones of the RWS 34, with maybe the exception of the stock quality. It tunes and shoots the same as my RWS 34's do. If this gun had been out before I bought my RWS 34's I would have probably of bought a Ruger instead. Allot less money and exactly the same gun right down to the trigger. I do not own an Beeman R-9 for that exact same reason that the B-20 and the B-26 IMO are the same and shoot the same, with the exception of course in the stock and the R-9 is available in .20 and the B series are not.

You're not helpin me Gene   :)

now I'm really tempted to push the button on the Blackhawk....   I always wanted a Panther in .177 and with you saying the air hawk clones (same as the blackhawk)  shoot just the same as the 34's  I don't know how I can resist ordering one now  :)

Only a 100 bucks, huh?  Let's see, 100 bucks for the gun, plus Gene's services, another Leapers scope and additional Accushot mount.  Okay, carry the 3 add a couple oo's....Oh Man!  I shoulda stuck with centerfires..lol  Cool thing about this one, my 11 year old could cock it by himself.

I'm sorta thinking that nice looking Hunter Sport in the classifieds, the Ruger, Meisterschutze Pro and the 220 sure would look mighty fine sitting next to each other.

I gotta get back to work before they realize I'm in here...

I've had one now for around a month to test and play with, the plastic stock will make any vibration more evident. Out of the box they are just like an RWS rifle, vibrate to beat heck, the velocity is right at 1000 with Lasers but the accuracy with those is junk, best I've found digging through the left over tins is the 10 gr H & N Barracudas, Wait another month or so and the B-25 will be here in .22, claimed velocity for the .22 is 820...claimed velocity for the B-26 in .22 is 880...

: Gene_SC March 24, 2009, 05:50:47 PM
The Ruger Air Hawk I bought from Pyramid had the wooden stock. Yes it is exactly the clone of the RWS 34. A tune took the normal noise and vibration out of it though.

Don't know about that eleven year old.  Maybe if he's a big'un.  Gene put a JM spring in that Air Hawk and it is a good bit harder to cock than the Shadows I had.  Of course, what goes in must come out, so it shoots well.  No twang, just thump.

Hey Mike, a couple of questions for you:

Does the Blackhawk come with a scope stop?
What is the quality of plastic like?  Is it nice like the Diana Panther, or cheap like the Daisy/Winchesters?
Also, are you going to offer these as tuned merchandise for sale? :)

: RE: Ruger Blackhawk
: mikeiniowa March 25, 2009, 12:38:17 PM
I'm not a fan of the synthetic stocks but the one I have has a nice looking stock, once the rifles get here in .22 I'll be doing my work on them, I will "tune" a .177 if you get one and then send it to me....they do have a stop for the scope
: No droop on the 25S I have....
: mikeiniowa March 25, 2009, 12:42:24 PM
but then some may have a droop.....
: Re: Ruger Blackhawk
: mikeiniowa March 25, 2009, 12:44:11 PM
other than the articulated cocking arm they are almost identical, they even copied the sound and feel of the 34....

: hodgjy March 26, 2009, 01:23:14 AM
That's awesome.  I am officially interested in your .22 version of the Blackhawk.  We need to talk price....
: Re: Ruger Blackhawk
: dnttech March 26, 2009, 03:02:37 AM
Mike, I never used to be a big fan of synthethic stocks either, but when we began using "plastic" guns about 15 or so years ago, I sort of changed my tune.  The wood stocks on the Remington 870's would get beat to crap and look 20 years old after only a year or so's use.  Changing them to plastic has helped keep them looking good and the stocks no longer crack.  When we changed from revolvers to semi-autos and adopted the .40 cal. Glocks, I've found they have held up far better then I ever imagined they would.  I keep a Colt M4 in the trunk of my car along with the rest of my SRT gear.  It gets banged around quite a bit, but it's held together a lot better then the wood stocked M1's we used back in the "old days."

Hey folks,
I spontaneously bought a winchester 800 from sportsmans guide. ( prob will arrive today) Do you all think I should send it back and order the blackhawk. Its is just for fun and a home tune project. And please dont tell me to keep the winchester AND order the blackhawk because i have thought of that allready. I have talked myself out of that...I think?

Hi Greg, welcome to the forum, nice to have you with us.....

As for the Winchester or Blackhawk dilemma....  Well, it all depends on what you really want to do....but here are some things to think about....

the winchester is a "refurb"........ the Blackhawk isn't .....

the Blackhawk, being a clone of the RWS 34, is going to have a MUCH better stock trigger than the Winchester for sure..

The winchester is an 800 FPS rifle while the Blackhawk is a 1000 FPS  rifles.  Both those FPS figures are "advertised" of course and are not "real world" but the Blackhawk is going to shoot faster and more power.

The Blackhawk comes with a scope (not the best of course but usable)... the winchester does not.....

Last thing,,,, the Blackhawk will be much easier to get spare parts for if you ever need them or want them, springs, seals, etc,,, since it's a 34 clone.

I"m not trying to push you either way, just throwing some things out there to think about to help you make your decision....

Hope this helps.....

Will be looking forward to your future posts on the forum.....and again.... WELCOME  :)

So what I'm hearing is the Blackhawk has the same powerplant as the Panther?

I'd buy the thing!  I've posted before that I bought three of the Ruger Airhawk's, and if the powerplant and barrel are the same, this is an AWESOME deal!  Good work!  Springer

Ross, I'm gonna have Gene turn this into the Panther Pro I so much wanted before I bought the Meisterschutze.  Hey, it may be on the cheap, but I figure when he's done with it, it outta be one sweet shooter.  I finally pulled the thing out of the box and put a scope on it...it still hasn't been shot.

Yep those Ruger's tune out great. I sold my Ruger to RedFeather a month or so back. It may have had a bit more punch than he likes but I did offer to take it back. I just hope he is shooting it enough to get everything seated and broken in good. Even the trigger is a clone of the RWS 34. Only real difference is the cocking linkage. If I ever bought another one I think I would de-tune is a bit. Do not need all that power around my place..:)
: Re: Ruger Blackhawk
: larspawn April 18, 2009, 11:12:16 AM
Gene/All, so there are some good deals on the Ruger which I can get out the door for $95 with a throwaway scope.  I already have a Gamo Big Cat in .177 that I tuned and now deem aceptable (prior to tune it was no fun and sat for 6 months with a dozen pellets down the tube).  I swapped for one of CDT's triggers, Maccari spring and Apex seal.  What a difference.

Anyway back to my question, is the Ruger any different than the Gamo Big Cat or are they basically the same experience with one being Synthetic and other Wood?  Or even though it seems like a deal save the $95 toward something different.  I don't have a .20 cal yet...hmm the madness never ends.

WAIT, so I noticed this thread is on the Blackhawk.  I was looking at the Air Hawk.  Is this the same gun only Black is syn and Air is wood?
