Don't like looks of new stuff. Guns should be metal and wood.

If you saw and held the Gamo Whisper, you'd like it. Lightweight, comfortable, easy to shoot. I've had no problem with mine.

I like the older Shadow 1000 with the simple steel barrel.  Before that, well, depends upon what you're looking for.  They made a nice, entry level match rifle, the 126, which was maybe Gamo's best gun.  For mid-weight hunting, the CF20 underlever got a nice review on Brad's Airguns.net site.  I'm sure there were probably others that are better still, but I don't think Gamo had much of a presence in the US before the Shadow/220/440 series was introduced.  Aside from the kind of bulky muzzle brake, the CFX is a pretty decent design.

Well I am with you Red. I have had tremendous success out of the S1K springers. Other than the synthetic stock they are mostly metal. The Gamo Hinter series of course have the wood stocks. I am really not that pleased with the barrel liner, shrouded plastic sleeves Gamo is using. They are easily bent and have seen quite a few of them come into my shop that are bent from shipping.

One thing about the S1K's is that you can easily tune them and make some significant changes in the power plant where you can go many directions if you want. And if you are familiar with my posts you will know that I have done allot of changes to my fleet of SiK's, and Hunters.

I have four left which are just perfect for my style of shooting. Here are two of them that are very accurate.

I'm with you. Metal and wood. I have a 440 with the gold trigger and I am very pleased with it.

I have to agree with ya Gene,,,,, I like the old GAMO Shadows as well.  I have 3 of them and each one is a nice shooting tack driver.  Also have the .22 cal "Black Shadow" which is also sweeeeet  :)
