Okay, dispite Mike Mileck's warning I lost the bearing on my Crosman 2250 safety spring. Good news is I fixed the problem. Bad news is I can't find a hardware store that sells them that small. Does anyone know the size of the little bugger and where I can get one? If you've got a stash I'd appreciate one. Thanks

Hurray!! welcome to the club (no offence) did the same thing last month. My solution was a bb keychain, just got one of the ball and greased it to make it stick to the spring. I installed it ball first and used toothpick to push the end of spring resting on the tube. Just be careful because the spring might hit you in the eye. Other solution i read was use a small o-ring to hold the pin in place. The ball chain solution worked for me like it was original bb in it.

I'm such a dork because I was warned and looked at it, thinking wow it is so small. Then in my marvel dropped it in my lap. Shocked at my stupidity I jumped upn sealing m fate.
The ball from a keychain is like a boulder compared to the original but might try. I hear it is 3/32 or #8 shot.

I used a piece of shot from a 22 rat shot. I can drop some in an envelope and send it your way if you need them?
-
Metalmanmatt,
You know if you would drop some in an envelope that would be awesome. I was going to shape down a really small round head brass screw like someone told me. Then someone said #7 or #8 shot but I don't reload so I was trying to get some. If you could send a few (cause I know I'll lose it again) that would be most excellent! I'll PM my address...
Thanks
Andy

Matt,
You're the man! Lots of little buggers arrived today. Thanks for the spares. I really appreciate you helping out another airgun brother. Your generosity is appreciated and I hope I can pay it forward some day. Thanks

LOL. Okay so I then go to put the gun back together and use the #8 ratshot in place of the bearing I lost. I got distracted and let the spring go flying. While looking for the spring low and behold I find the bearing on the floor. Okay so not I have the bearing and lose the spring! I had to make another spring by rewinding a spring from a pen. All together now and better than new.
-
Oh and it is now shooting at 580 fps! I've got a paintball trigger shoe that will go on it next.
-
Just my 2 cents, I read where a Flint spring out of an old or new disposable lighter works well. Non-disposable lighter fluid (Zippo) lighters even have a brass pin crimped on the end of the spring for the detent ball.
Maybe next time. Just cruising through feeling helpful today. LOL

Okay so I lose the bearing and Matt Sanders (what a guy!) sends me some #8 rat shot. I'm installing it and SPROING goes the spring. I hear it hit the door near my table. I get out the shop light and start looking for the little spring. Low and behold I find the bearing on the floor! But as luck would have it I can't find the darn spring. Are you kidding me? So I give up and pull a spring from a cheapy pen. Its too big. So I chuck a small bit in the drill and start winding my own spring from the pen donor. Worked well. So my 2250 is now back together with the original bearing and my homemade spring.
Don't worry Matt, I"m sure some day I'm going to need that ratshot!
Ahhh, the adventures of airgunning finishes a new chapter. Stay tuned for more silly episodes!
