: 75 cent power adjuster for Disco
: preez April 26, 2009, 08:17:17 AM

Having posted my 22 cal Disco on the classifieds I decided to run it through the chrony again. I remembered it clocking around 790fps last time I did. To my dissapointment it was shooting around 750fps, what the heck? I didn't change anything in a while! It actually bothered me enough to start thinking about making a power adjuster for it. The trip to Home Depot was very successful and after picking up up a couple of items I was able to put one together. 1st  picture of it disassembled, 2nd pic is what the installed product looks like. . The white screw is a 8-32 x 1" nylon screw, cut to less than 1/2" it acts as a guide for the spring. The stainless steel screw is a 10-32 x 3/4" for adjestment. Even though it's an allen screw it can be turned by fingers.

 The results:

From 750fps to 876fps adjuster all the way in and 790fps all the way out at 1500-1600 psi fill. That's using 14.3 grain Crosman Premiers, that's almost 23 fpe. With 21 grain Kodiaks I got 733 fps for 25 fpe. NICE!!! I suspect much more air will be used but the Disco is not a weakling anymore!

And yes, it was worth the 75 cents. It ay be not as polished and pretty as the $30 one, but works just as well

What does it do? Put more pressure or tension on  the spring making the hammer hit the valve harder ?

Yes Sam, that is correct. It works similar to power wheel on your Talon

Tim at Mac1 installs one. But it seems fixed in its position.

Yes, I believe he tunes it to best power to shot count ratio and locks it there. Isn't it the same Tony @ TT does?

Tim at Mac1 installs a power adjuster, although in his case I think he sets it where he feels the gun is giving the most power using the least air.
