Hello everyone.
I recently bought an RWS model 52 and i'm having some issues with accuracy. I've already checked all the screws, scope mount, scope, etc for tightness. And I've found the right pellet for the gun after trying many different kinds. Settled on JSB exact jumbos. And I have tried 2 different scopes. I've got about 1500 to 2000 rounds through it.
After the first 1000 pellets I lightly relubed the gun according to manufacturer recommendation. My question is can lubing the gun too much effect accuracy? When I first start shooting the gun, the POI is always off from where I set it last. Also the other day I was shooting and after a short break the POI shifted about 2 to 3 inches up.
Does anyone else own an RWS rifle with this problem? And if so, how often do you recommend a relube?
Thanks ahead of time for any help. The people here and this forum are great. Been lurking here for awhile.

What type scope? I had a scope that walked on me every time I shot the airgun. Switched to an old trusty one and the problem went away. Didn't mater how tight the mounts or screws were. It still walked.
My opnion is the lube is not the problem.

What are you doing to lube it, adding RWS chamber oil? That's what RWS recommends but it is 1950's technology. Nowadays "tar" or thick lube is applied sparingly to the mainspring. If you are using the chamber lube, it is probably burning off the excess oil and dieseling to give you erratic warm up shots after it has sat a while. Dieseling is not good for a springer since it can create back pressures and damage the piston seal and spring.

I had a similar thought.... too much oil and dieseling? maybe a moving scope the 52 has a heavy recoil? Mine can be abit hold sensitve also..If its a .177 try rws supermag pellets, Tony

Thanks for the info so far guys. I'm using 2 different centerpoint 4-16x40 scopes. I've got the same scope on some of my other guns and have'nt had a problem yet. The one I just tried is brand new but i'll try another just in case.
I have'nt tried the Supermag pellets yet but I have tried both kodiaks and the copper jacketed kodiaks as well as others.
I'm kinda thinking I may have over lubed the chamber a bit, maybe I need to shoot it without relubing the chamber every 1000 shots.
Thanks for the help agian.

First off, I am no expert, but I do have a 52 and it is superb. It does have an incredible recoil tho. My scope and mnt are on solid. My guess it that is your problem.
It is a magnum and will readily shoot 10.5 g pellets. The heavier pellets will reduce their velosity and improve accuracy and probably save your spring.
I would be very careful lubing anything until you exactly what and how to lube.
Good luck.

(http://../images/emoticons/smile.gif)Hi Martin, Your RWS Model 52 has a harsh amount of recoil, so be careful with the Centetpoint scopes,Lost one a while back but had the receipt so Centerpoint sent me a new one.Have you tried shooting with iron sites? See it that is more consistent as far as accuracy is concerned. My Rws 52 is set up with a Leapers 4-16x50 AO/IR scope and is very accurate....Bill(http://../images/emoticons/cool.gif)

Hey bill.
I think i'm gonna do that if my problem continues. For the past few days i've been testing the gun when i come home from work. When I first pick it up and shoot it is off zero. But after a 2 or 3 shots it comes back to center. I'm going to take it out in the fields again on thursday and see if it stays zeroed all day. Thanks for the help. I'll let you guys know what happens after thursdays session.
