How's it Going? I am attemting my first Spring /Seal and lube job. My dear freind Silver Shadow 1000 broke it's spring the other night. Thankfully due to GTA I was aware of the symtoms and stopped shooting before I damaged the cylinder (I hope). I just got done building my first compressor. My question is, will 4 and 1/2 inches day light between the chamber and the end of compressor screw travel be enough for the replacement spring? I have to order all the parts when JM opens up again, so I don't know how long a new spring will be.I am just wondering in order to plan a mod to the compressor if necessary . I really respect all the smarts you all haveand thye willingness to share to build our sport, Thanks to you all... John

for a set spring it s would...but a new spring is usaly unset
so could be up to 2" longer that the set one you took out..
may have to do a wee bit of pushing by hand to get it
in the compresser..try and see but I think yer be
good to go..

Thanks for the reply, I'll keep the wee bit of pre compression in mind. I'm really anxious to see how well it goes, Thanks again

You should be fine, John, even with a new, unset spring, you should only need 2-3" of compressor travel. Just remember to go easy on the lubes, and be prepared for having to break in your rifle all over again. It's even possible that the pellets it liked before will no longer work as well. Good luck, and keep us posted.
