I have a TF-89 and an RWS 350. I would choose the TF anyday over the 350. Today there was a crow approx 40 yards away, got him in the scope, was standing with no rest, and let er rip. SMACK!! The crow never moved an inch after. Whats not to love? I just love to hear that WHACK!! Anyone else got one? Feel the same?

I also have a TF 89,this was Gene's that I now have & he did a real nice job with her, smooth as butter & nice power,I really haven't put her to good use yet but once I hook-up with Jeff,it will be one of my go to guns! :)

I've got a TF89 in .177, and think I made a mistake. I LOVE the rifle but wish now that I'd gotten the .22...

I have a TF-89 in .22 and LOVE IT!!! 840fps consistantly with RWS Super H-Points. Will shoot ragged holes at 50' if I hold it right (hand under the forearm); just setting on sandbags it is VERY hold sensitive. 4X Leapers mil-dot scope. I have it sighted in at 50' and I only have to aim about 4" high at 50 yards. I've taken the trigger mechanism apart and filed/smoothed the parts that touch and then greased it before reassembly. After adjusting the two stages, I love the trigger.
We shoot a 5-gallon bucket on a hillside at 130 yards and hit it about 80%+ of the time. The same bucket at 100 yards is nearly 100% hits.

Doug or others, what mods do you have done to your TF-89s. Been looking at a 22cal

VERY hold sensative on a fixed mount. My TF-89 will shoot the lights out off hand, but when I place it on my Predator shooting stand, its all over the place no mater how I hold it. I really like the rifle, but I really want a Marauder!!
-
The thing about the TF-89 and it's variants is the low initial cost but if you put some TLC into them they will shoot as good or better than an RWS 350 which could cost you over $350.00. Proper seal and spring replacement along with a well done tune including the trigger you will be amazed at how smooth they are. Just my 2 cents..:) The .22 version is the most efficient.
-
Gene, also have 89- wondering how much you would charge for tune including trigger- love the gun, smooth trigger main issue

Does macarri make spring set for .22? if so, which one? also which seal? Thanks
-
Gene, which seal and spring would you use as a replacement? would like to make mine a bit smoother

Piston seals for the TF-89 are hard to find in the right size. The problem is the bore is not consistant. I have seen most of the time the seals yo buy are to loose. So I buy oversize seals and turn them down to fit the bore. It has been a while since I turne a TF-89 or a variant there of but I use JM springs on them. I forgot which one.

E 9870 spring from JM. I used a stock seal from Compasseco that i warmed up and clamped between two plates to expand it. when it was cool I sized it. They both worked very well.

I have the same issue with my super tuned B28 . Off-hand she's deadly accurate but rest it and the pattern goes all over the place. 50 yards is no problem for the B28 taking head shots but it must be held just right.

Appreciate the info- could you tell me a bit more about the process of sizing the factory seal? how did you heat it and then the process for sizing? do not have access to a lathe. Thanks
-
My TF-89 .22 is the same way...... shooting offhand it is dead on accurate with great groups,,,, if I sit at my shooting bench and rest her on anything at all she suddenly becomes extremely hold sensitive and spits em all over......That's ok though,,,, I use her for hunting and when I hunting there's no shooting bench involved :)

Warm up the seal with a hair dryer and use a c clap or vise with two flat plates. You don't have to compress it much to expand it. I then used my drill press and a file and some sandpaer to size it. Go slow and check the fit often.
