: Early morning CFX purchase
: longislandhunter June 23, 2006, 02:18:23 PM
The other day I missed out when Cabelas had refurb CFX/scope combo for $134, was more than a little ticked off at myself for procrastinating.  Anyway, got woken up at 5:30 this morning by a phone call and since I couldn't get back to sleep decided to surf the net. Went to the Cabelas site and low and behold there was a new listing for the CFX scope combo. Whipped out the credit card at the speed of light and completed the order. A few minutes later got the email order confirmation with a delivery date of July 3rd.  I went back to the Cabelas site later in the morning and they were  already sold out. I called Cabelas to make sure my order went through and nice woman told me my rifle is being shipped out tomorrow.  Can't wait.  You were right Gene, the early bird does get the worm   :)

Way to go and I know you will love it once you get it setup the way you like.

Good Luck

I hope your as happy with it as everyone seems to be. From what I've read, it's a tack driver and the most accurate of all the Gamo guns. Glad you were able to get one on such a sweet deal.

Here's a target of my .177 CFX at 55 yards. Target is 4' diameter.
I take tree rats at this range, no problem.

Pellet is Beaman Field and Target Special, so far it's the best pellet I have found for the CFX,
Rifle Crony's at 840 fps average with this pellet.

Stock spring and seal just dissambled and cleaned up, deburred, and  tared.

Great lookin target, now I'm even more anxious to receive the rifle  :D   I won't be disassembling the rifle and deburring/tarring it simply because I just don't know how to do that so I won't even try for fear of damaging something, but I hope the rifle they send me shoots half as good as your target indicates, especially at 55 yards.  I'm really looking forward to doing some small game hunting with this rifle and if it's as accurate as everyone says it is it should make for a great hunting rifle for me. I currently have a good supply of CPHP, Crow Magnums, Crossman Premium domed, Crossman Premium pointed and gamo rocket pellets, and I'm hoping one of them, or more, shoot well throught the gun.  If not then I'll just have to order more/different pellets and play around.

Every rifle is different when it comes to pellets, I myself have never had much luck with pointed pellets in any of my gamo rifles,"I have 6 of them"  crossman domed and hp's work well, superdomes shoot well also.

Crowmags shoot well to  30/35 yards then seen to spread out a bunch.

I know what you mean about every rifle being an individual when it comes to pellets.  I have 4 Gamo rifles and each does seem to have it's own favorites pellet wise.  My S1k shoots CPHP's exceedingly well while my black shadow 22 just shoots them "okay".  Funny thing is though that both guns shoot amazingly tight, accurate groups with Crossman Premium pointed pellets.  While hunting I usually stick with the hollow point type pellets, but if the wind kicks up sometimes I'll switch to the pointed pellets and seem retain better accuracy. I'm looking forward to getting the CF-X and finding out what pellets it prefers.  I'll make sure I'll post the results.
