"2-Bore"

I remember reading abut the adventures of " Sir Sammual Baker " ...a big game hunter in Africa in the 1800's. Guns that dislocate your shoulder when firing...4 bore , 2 bore , etc...lol. I always wanted a .378 or .460 Weatherby growing up...100 plus pounds of recoil , lol. I eventually got " sensible " and decided on a .340 Weatherby. I was 13 and worked all summer saving for a Mark V. In the end I only had 300 dollars , not enough for the 340 . But it was enough for a 700 BDL in 8 mm Rem. Mag. , and enough power for a 13 year old for sure . And as I get older I really enjoy looking at the cases and the rifle more so than shooting it , lol. That is just an awesome photo you posted.

I once fired a 4 ga flintlock musket...250 grains of FG powder, and a 1/4 lb ball. I was 16 years old at the time...and people still hunted in Africa with those big Stoger flint guns, modern guns were not legal for the local people to own...Big 'tuskers" were hunted with them! The thing kicked like an old army mule!

That 2 bore in the picture is being held at the best angle for safe shooting ..... save the shoulder and use it as a mortar ! :D

Wander if they would still let you hunt with those now days? Don't know if you really would want to but....

Don't shoot them prone unless you want a broken collar bone. I saw a couple of 12 bore doubles at the last show and even those looked like sewer pipes. My .54 double is as big as I want to go, thank you.

Putting that 2 bore to the shoulder seems silly.
I just had to post the photo.
