I can't decide between these models so I thought I would start a poll to help me. I don't care about other models or brands so please refrain. If you have experience with any of these please tell all.

I have good experience with both models of AirMax, and then some (since they can go higher). But...
It would still help to know what you're using them on, and what you're shooting.
For example, I favor the 2-7x32 on an R7 (in fact I think it is a perfect combination) or a Diana 24. I won't be shooting them at 40 yards much and don't want the extra weight and imbalance on the smaller guns. But for the more powerful guns with greater range, I would want 9x or higher.
The SR is a more expensive model but primarily refers to the specialized (and busy) reticle. There are other Hawke models of similar construction, with Mildots for example.
I have no experience with the SR or Varmint II, but for hunting rodents and relatively small game, all those SR lines would confuse me.
I love my Eclipse 30mm but it's not on your list. So, I am refraining... (http://../jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-sealed.gif)

You can see in my signature where I use the different scopes. Each matches well with the rifle it's on.

I can't vote for any of the above because I haven't seen/handled/shot with any of them, but I did just get a Hawke Eclipse30 4x16x50 Side Focus and it is excellent!

Those Eclipse's are nice but I want to stay under 50mm thats why I refrained.

Yuppems, I would like to stay in the 40mm range as well. The one advantage the Eclipse DOES have is that it's really short, so it fits real well on my HW97 without covering the pellet loading port. I have never heard any really bad reviews of any of the Hawke scopes, so I doubt you will be unhappy with whatever you choose.

3-9x40 ALL THE WAY! That's what I'm running on my BSA Lightning XL and it's GREAT!
-
Airmax 3-9x40 is my chioce because its shorter length tends to be less in the way, I use 6x to 8x most of the time anyway and finally the airmax will stand up recoil better than the SR. The higher power is nice from a bench but less useful when shooting offhand to me:) Tony

I have both Airmax models (32mm on my 634 and 40mm on my HW50s) and would recommend them both. Like Daveshoot says, choose the smaller scope for a smaller gun.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I'm ordering my 3-9x40mm AO today. In fact I'm getting two of them. A Hawkeing we will go.:emoticon:

I have bought all of mine from Straight Shooters. Great people to deal with.

Check with Joe Lamonica (airgun/cuz) at Long Island Air Guns on the Hawke scopes before you buy from StraightShooters.
