I was excited to look through one of these and mount it up in a one piece mount on my TX200HC . Looking through it indoors , the scope was amazingly clear . But I don't shoot much indoors , except in the winter at 10 meters and at that distance it was sweet. Outside yesterday evening, it was cloudy, threatening thunderstorms , which never developed , so I treied to hurry and get in a few shots . I did get the scope sighted in at 30 yrds even though the scope looked dark looking at my target backstop back into the woods with it being cloudy . Today I added a piece of tape around the AO bell and marked true yardages on it to use for ranging . It was tough out past 30 yards and later when I tried to duplicate my focusing , it didn't quite focus the same ; not good for field target , when 5 yards at a 3/4" KZ it can make a big difference . It would barely be adaquate for ranging, and then only out to 40 yards max. . I then started to map out my hold over from shooting from 10-55 yards and had gotten to 40 yards when my POI started climbing on me. At first I thought maybe it was me, but then I noticed the crosshairs had rotated in the scope . :0 I packed it up and mailed it off to Bass Pro Shop for a refund . The reticle would have been nice, especially if the scope would have focused as least as good as the Legend I have . But it needs to last more than 50 shots on a medium springer too. kirby

...that is why most use 8-32 power scopes in FT...some at 6-24 power...parallexing is better with the higher power scopes due to the narrow depth of field....IMO...I used a 4-16x40 scope in an FT match last April...the depth of field was to broad making ranging targets an issue...

I would use a more powerful scope if I was allowed , but i shoot hunter and I'm limited to 12X max . It's tough finding one that will range find at 12X . My Simmons WTC does a pretty good job , but I was looking for something lighter and smaller . kirby

Try looking at the Hawke scopes....they seem to cater to those shooting FT or HFT....very good scopes...

I have had pretty good luck with the Hawke Scopes. I own two of the Hawke 4-12X40 Ao Balistic scopes. They hold up great on my springrs. Just bought a Map Pro 50 for my new HW-97 and it looks very clear.
