: Tripletail trip
: JOHNNY QUEST July 01, 2009, 04:43:30 AM

I have been plannibg this trip for a year and finally got ta do it..

I hired Capt. Scott Reeh out of Palacious Tx. to take me and a couple buddies out for em..

Now a tripletail is a wierd fish, it hangs out around bouy's, chanel markers and inshore rigs.. Its one of the best eatin fish in the ocean and we happen ta have them in matagorda bay about 1.5 hrs. from me. When we got to the ramp and met up with the good Capt. the wind was howlin at 15 ta 20+. luckily he has a 26 ft. Southshore and it made it bareable.... We fished the markers and rigs and ended up with 2 trippletails and a couple of large sheepshead.. For a day that was not meant ta be it was a success and I and stoghed.. I lost a very large on to the pilons around the rig when he decided to wrap himself around it before I could get him out.. I hear this is the norm tho.. a very strong fish and very fast...

Anyway here is a pic or 3 of the trip...

After the trip I decide I waned ta eat some of this elusive fish.
So from the kitchen ta you here it is.
I used the japanese light honey coated bread crumbs, a bunch of seasonings in a bowl with a little lemon juice and olive oil..
Went to the garden and picked a few tomato's and OKRA...
Diced and sliced them up and stewed them up..
So here ya have it..
Fried trippletail with stewed maters and okra....

Fine pics Randall,,, really nice lookin fish.  I see what you mean about how strong they are.   I wish we had them up here by me.....

That dinner you prepared looks fantastic as well.   I can see why fisherman pursue these fish with such a passion....
