: WHAT TO DOOOOO.
: February 09, 2007, 07:35:07 AM
In my last post about COBRA AIR,I was going to send the rifle back. After reading LOTS of posts about the CFX,I found out that I had one of the OLD ones(serial no.on the barrel) I guess there the ones with the tighter barrel. The rust on it is all over the rear sight, and a few small, match head size,on the barrel. The rear sight will come off when I put on a scope.I can probibly fix the rust on the barrel with a little wd40 ,emery cloth , and cold blue.
Just got an e-mail from them to send it back. They said that UPS will pick it up Monday....
Do I take the chance??? or should I keep what I have now?? WHAT WOULD YOU DOOOOO.

Seems that's gotta be a factor. Also, I don't know if you've used "cold blue" much, but you'll probably come out with a splotchy finish. It will not duplicate the original color.

You paid for a NEW gun guy, not something that you have to fix. You deserve what what you paid for if not more because of what they DID send you.Just my two sense, have no cent's, spent it on airgun's . :)  Ed

Sorry for all the hoopla guys but I think this CFX has finally found a home. I just told cobra air I was keeping the rifle.
You can hardly see where I touched up the rust, and since it isn't going anywhere it's not going to hurt any resale :p  :p
Oh the serial #04-1C-XXXXXX-03 is on the barrel Any idea when it was mfg.
                                                       Thanks:

P.S.  I checked out the in side of the barrel and it was spotless so I decided to go for it. :D  :D  :D

I believe bullseye is correct that the rifle was manufactured in 03

Good luck with your new rifle and enjoy  :)

Just came up from the basement after mounting the Tasco 3x9x32(took off the rusty rear site)
Sighted it in with Premiers on a home made bench rest, pop cooler HAHA with a gell pack rest.I only shoot 10 yds.
I went through my 6or8 tins of pellets to find the best one. The Bman kodiak heavy10.2 was the best, then JSB heavy10.6 but their TOO heavy then the JSB Exact.
 Just for grinns and giggles I tried the PREDATOR......HOLLYYYY SHucks I put a 5 shot ,4 leaf clover in a 3/8 flurescent dot.I THINK THIS GUN IS A KEEPER :D   :D   :D
Thanks guys for putting up with my story.

I don't know why you think the serial number on the barrel is an old model.  I just purchased a CFX the serial is on the barrel, and it's an 06 model.

Purchased it from Gamo directly.

I guess it's too late to send it back, but mine did not come perfect either.  No scope stop, a few glitches elsewhere.  I kept mine and have been happy so far.

Good Luck,

Perry
