: NEED SOME INFO from MEMBERS in FLORIDA regarding LOVE-BUGS.

Are LOVE-BUGS out and about in FLORIDA at this time?   I will be making a trip down the I-95 to ST. AUGUSTINE next week (7/13).  Are they as bad as they used to be at this time?  At one time I lived on Amelia Island/ Fernandina Beach  and they were pretty pesky.  Made driving  in Florida difficult.   Do they still have two 'seasons' and am I going to miss one or be in the middle of one?   If they are out I want to buy a 'bug' screen.

Thanks for any info.....I hate those darn bugs.

BTW is there any traffic problems around JAX that I should know of?

spray the front of your car with Pam cooking spray, Rain Ex on the windshield, will help get the little bugger off after you get there...MIke

Well, Mike in Iowa, since it is so blistering hot in FLA. I could spray the front end of the car with the Pam and snack on the  fried bugs when I stop.  This would give fresh meaning to 'eating out'. LOL

Already use the Rain-X.  Maybe just some more wax on the front of car.

Still would like more  info from Florida folks in the JAX, St. Augustine area.    Really anything from Brunswick Georgia  heading south on I-95.

In Tallahassee here.  We had the swarm come through a month or so ago.  Haven't seen them in a few weeks though.  Not sure about the east coast..  Just slap a heavy coat of wax on the front and don't leave the bugs on too long..  You're grill's still gonna get filled, but try and save the hood/painted bumper, etc..

Mike...No need to worry about the Love Bugs now. We get them in May and September here in Gainesville and the surrounding area. As far as Jax traffic,There is always construction going on some where but the traffic flows fairly good. have a safe trip and enjoy. If you get a chance you might stopatMarineland (http://www.marineland.net/)and check out the Dolphins. They are building the place back up. There's a nice beach right next to there to enjoy the sand and surf. (http://../jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-wink.gif)

It seems that I will in and out of  Florida before  the Love Bug swarms crank up again.  I do plan to go to Marine Land since it has been awhile since I was last there.
Florida is one of my old prowling grounds and at one time owned some really nice property on the Inter-Coastal.  It has been a long time, but I may go snorkleing in some of the springs in the Ocala National Forest if that is still allowed.

Not sure about snorkling in the Ocala National Forest but there are a bunch of springs up here. Ginnie Springs, in High Springs Florida (http://www.ginniespringsoutdoors.com/GetWet.php)is a fantastic place to snorkle. If you like shrimp, O'Steen's Restaurant - St. Augustine, FL (http://www.roadfood.com/Restaurant/Reviews/2890/osteens-restaurant)has the best!!!
