I was at Cabelas last Saturday and did a quick look at the bargain cave air gun rack and I noticed a wood stocked steel barreled Gamo. Upon inspection I see it's a Gamo 220. It doesn't look too bad, nothing included but the rifle but it's priced at $79.00. Never mind it's been sitting there cocked for who knows how long I'm thinking this is a deal and with a little work I have a nice addition to the collection. I told the associate I would take it so he proceeded to take the trigger lock off and almost dry fired the gun into a waste can by the counter but a loud screech from me prevented that disaster. Got it home and by eleven that night I had taken it down, cleaned it up, debured, lubed, replaced the spring with a new Gamo spring I had, got it back together, added a extra scope and, here it is.

I have good news for you.. That is not a Gamo 220.... It is a Gamo 440. Much nicer stock on the Gamo 440.. I have never seen a Gamo 440 for that price. The lowest I have ever seen them was $139.00. That was mismarked to boot..:) You own a genuine Gamo 440 buddy..
Here are a couple pictures of me Gamo 440 with custom aluminum barrel shroud.
Good luck

I thought I read Hunter 220 on the barrel Gene. Go fetch your glasses.
Still an excellant buy!

Yeah, I see it too. Maybe somebody switched stocks when no one was looking in the cave?
Real nice looking rifle. I might shoot my Shadow more often if it had a stock like that! :)

Well Ron I looked again and it is a 220 action but the 220 and 440 actions are exactly the same. THe difference being in the stock. So they have placed a 440 stock on a 220 action. Still a 440 in my book..:) He did get a fantastic bargain anyway.

Way to find a great bargain Walt!
I love stories like these - someone finds an old gun rebuilds it to perfection and cleans it up to make a nice shooter :)
I hope that gun works wonders for you - they're great little guns 8)
Happy Shooting
