My HW97K , I bought used and it came with the old style stock , a little on the bulky side (IMO) and checking only on the grip . I preferred the newer style stock and was lucking enough to find one a few days after I bought the HW97K. So that left me with the old stock and wondering what to do with it . I decided to refinish it and reshape it , maybe taking a little weight off in the process . I'm including before and after stripping pictures . I like the shape of the right side of the cheek piece on Air Arms rifles and thought I would try to reshape this one like an Air Arms and this should remove some weight . I plan on stippling the grip and on the forearm . I may have a friend of mine add a couple of silver or brass inlays somewhere , I haven't decided . Maybe inside the stippling on the forearm . kirby k

Hey David, just have Ed do a Blue Laminante on it..:) You have to get Ed going on that right away buddy so we can all see his work.. He may have a second source of income..:) You never know..:)

Gene; Mt friend Eddie builds muzzleloaders from scratch . He's decorated several with inlays . He does nice work . I'll get with him this weekend and see at what stage he needs the stock to add a couple of inlays . I've got some more shaping to do before I start with the stippling . It'll probably be next week before I do any more work on it . I have a package coming tomorrow and a field target match Saturday . kirby

kirby: Would you please take copious pictures of your stippling process, since I'm sure there are others out there that have considered that as a part of their own refinishing projects. I am expecting the TX from Paul early next week and since I already have a stock for it I am thinking of stippling over the scales. Please keep us updated on the 97. Bob

I will Bob. I left it with Eddie today . He's going to build me a knee rest for it and add a couple of inlays to the sides of the forearm . I've decided to make this my Piston Class field target rifle. I'll add more once I get it back. kirby

My friend Eddie reported to me he had one brass inlay to go and he'll be finished with his part . He stained the stock as he he did his work, so it would be in the spaces before he put the inlays in place with super glue . Once I get it back from him; I'll do the stippling on the forearm and grip and start adding the oil finish . I've ordered a polished bronze trigger guard , trigger blade , adjustment screw , and front stock screw cups to finish it up. kirby

I finished up the stippling last night . (my hands ache this morning) Added a little stain around 11pm . This morning , I applied the first coat of Tru-oil . I'm going to wait to post finished pictures until I get the rest of the bling . The bronze trigger guard , trigger , adjustment screw , and front screw cups. Hopefully by the middle of next week. Thanks for the kind words . kirby

Who sells the polished bronze Weihrauch trigger guards? How much are they? I'd love to get one for the long-barreled R9.

Last time David was down to my house he brought that baby with him. The pictures here do not do it justice. Very beautiful workmanship on the stipping and enlays.
