Just spoke with Gene for the first time, great guy! :) truly a fountain of info and someone that I think of as a friend. Anyway we were tossing about getting us all together for a shoot for fun/ meet your airgun buddy's/ have a blast time tourny. We could set up a location, state which would be home base for the get together.ALL MEMBERS AND FAMILY, FRIENDS would be welcome. Just some addict's getting together trading info shooting and having a GTA great time. Any and all idea's are welcome, may have to travel alittle but I think it would be great to meet fellow members.Something were tossing about, what do you think guy's.? DANO you can bring your green army men too hehe. Ed
-
sounds fun. not sure how far I be willing to travel. south dakota's probably bearable in june/july!!
George
-
We are not set on any place yet, but we are open for ALL suggestions. Ed
-
If anyone's got a great location in mind that we can shoot and not get hauled off and have the run of the place, any info is great. Something to think over, mid summer etc.. Thanks ed
-
For sure a GTA Forum get together shoot for fun would be fantastic. Wives could come and see that there husbands are not the only one's afflicted with these air guns...:) I think we have allot of members living all over the states, and would not be to hard to find a central location for the meet. A three day weekend would probably be best for most of ya that have to work to pay for air guns...:)
Anyway, as Ed has suggested, toss it around and lets see how many bites we get on Ed's thread. Oh, and by the way, Ed is great guy and I really enjoyed chewing the fat wiff him... :)
Gene

I'd certainly be interested,,,, sounds like it would be a great time !!

Count me in. Funny thing, my wife recently suggested something similar, but on a smaller scale. I'm in central Washington state, so would have one of the longer treks, but I think I could make something happen. Later.
Dave
-
:) Even thought I may not be able to make it, it's a great idea.
Perhaps it could be held on a Holiday weekend where most folks get a 3- 4 day weekend.
-
I suppose I could make it if it were in Greenville or Anderson county in South Carolina. :D Anything beyond that I'd need a passport....lol...
That does sound like a good idea though. A central location would be the biggest issue and we have members in every state (and many other countries also but doubt that would matter). I suppose that it would be determined by how many would actually consider it and go and then try to find a location that would be fairly central to all.
Where ever it might be, I just hope the host's house will be big enough to accommodate everyone and also have a good shooting area. Hey Robert (txairgunner)...are ya hearin' us? :p Have ya still got the air gun club house down there in Kermit? :D Ya keep on tellin' me to "come on down".
Just think....Rattlesnake hotdogs and Jackrabbit hamburgers along with some of the high grade cactus juice. Now there's a host.
-
Were getting some good idea's here guy's. Holiday weekend, not bad. If we could find a central hub of sort's because I realize some would have some traveling a head of them. I've lived in Fenton, MI. to the east and Toledo WA.to the west so I've almost been from one end to the other, my gypsy days when I was younger hehe. I know traveling time can kill ya and if anyone knows of a location, even in their home state were we could set up our air rifle woodstock, drop a thread. We would have to be able to shoot etc. without any problems. I have no problem traveling myself, got some vacation time coming up and would be jazzed to meet some fellow members. Ed
-
Bob great idea, lot of wide open spaces in texas, txairgunner how about a airgun woodstock. :o Ed
-
I could make it to Kermit.....I guess:)
dan
-
You gess :o If we could set something up with txairgunner that would nice. Ed
-
I think a get together would be great, but Texas would be to much of a haul for me (Even though I love Texas!). If its closer I probably could make it. I'll keep an eye on this thread, thats for sure!
Danny
-
Hehe, no-one really loves texas, not in Summer at least....or in Winter...Fall isn't bad, except for the ice storms and 100F days...Spring is good.....oh, but then there ARE those tornados in the Spring........
Really I think what it would come down to is finding someone with a chunk of land to sponsor an event, not everyone is going to want to do that, even if they have the land(insurance reasons, etc...). It sounds like the Kermit folk are already set up, and already hosting an event, we'd just have to pay and show up?
Dan
-
I know about the heat and cold too. Summer's here can reach 103 like last summer and right now it's about 10 above. Gotta love it. That's what I'm thinking dan, some open space etc.. Ed
-
Sounds like a great idea. Just need to have it somewhere that has a motel set up for wheelchairs for my kidsl I get 2 weeks vacation from August, kids have 1week Fall break in OCT. Kermit is probably driveable from AZ. Getting tired of shooting paper, so stole a FT design off the internet and made a couple to shoot at. Wife probably thinks I'm crazy, so this would show her I'm not alone,HAHA.

-
Yes Ric, we would want to make it accessable for everyone's need's, motel's and special need's for sure. All input is important and any and all suggestion's are welcome. Were a GTA family here, everyone's voice is heard.Got some idea's members , give a shout out. Thank's Ed
-
Hey, if you all want to hold it here in Kermit, that won't be a problem and we'd love to have you all. Holler back with some dates if your interested.
-
Been hanging the bait over the boat hoping that the right fish would bite. Will do txairgunner, was hoping from some input from you and will be in contact. Thank's for replying. Ed
-
PBJ, were thinking about trying to get some member's together just for subject you mentioned. A GTA SHOOT AND BBQ, meet your fellow member's. It's still floating around member's so any location's that most can get to without having to cross the US would be a plus. Ed

We need a place with lots to shoot at and where the AR laws aren't too strict.
I'd host is at my place (could put one or two folks too) but North Texas is not an easy place to shoot.
crappy laws etc.
West Texas is good (jack rabbits) SC is good too (loads of squirrels and Sparrows)
We need a list of where everyone's at and try to choose a central location... tough job, too few
people have their location on their profiles. Everyone needs to provide their location.
This is a good idea and we should not let it die. Let me know what to do, I'll try and help out with
whatever I can.

I'm in North Texas too, but I don't have any access to any decent land. SC isn't exactly close to me, and trying to coordinate work, kids, wifes work, etc wont be easy. I'd almost have to fly in for a weekend, then fly right back out. Driving would pretty much be out of the question. Wonder what sort of airfare we'd be talking about....and hotel, rental car.....yowza, I think my wife just shot me an evil look from across the room and she doesn't even know what I'm thinking about...she just knows it has something to do with "airgun money".

Just camp out with me Dano, It will be like... woodstock, er airgunstock. Peace man hehe. Ed
-
You don't have to pay to show up. We could have it here anytime before or after our AAFTA Field Target event. It would be a bring your own BBQ meat and drinks kinda deal. But we sure have a big area to shoot with all kinds of targets. We have tons of regular field targets and mini field targets. Not to mention tons of spinners, paper targets, clay pigeons, etc.
-
We got some choices here guy's S.C. , Texas . I think I'm going to have to do a U.S. tour. Ed

Ya know if ya want a really nice stock, there's a few really nice laminate stocks out there, as well as stocking caps and of course celery stock, chicken stock, and walnut stocks. A walnut stock will cost a bit more than a vege stock, but with the maple you usually get stuck with whatever is in stock! ba dum bump!!!
I dunno 'bout Gene's place, but I'm not doing any camping mid summer out in Kermit....sorry bud, too hot for that. I'm supposed to go visit my mom in early July out in Cali, but when I get back I may make it out to Kermit for a weekend trip....sounds like a blast actually. I may make it out there sooner actually, think it's only a half day drive...maybe I could leave on a friday and come home on a sunday? I'll have to plug the coordinates into Google Earth to see how far it is. Do they run events often?
Dan
-
....just tried to find it on Google Earth, is this it?
-
Yep, that's it. It's just a tad more west though. but you got it.
-
Just look for the BIG YELLOW THUMBTACK about a couple hours east of El Paso, huh? Yahoo Maps says it's about 10 hours east of me, so I could probably drive it. I guess Midland/Odessa are only a few minutes away and have a lot of hotels/motels. plus the Confederate(oops-Commemorative) Air Force Museum. How about mid-October? Weather here is decent then, Cool nights and warm(OK - still hot for most), so I suppose Kermit is about the same? This time and place gets my vote.

I'm going to need a BIGGER scope to hit something from up here and talk about the wind factor. Is that a dillo I see? hehe. Ed
-
cool, 5 hours and 59 minutes from me according to Google Earth....anyone else use Google Earth? Sure would be a slick way to figure out where everyone is from. I might drive out some weekend, I bet I could make it in 4 hours:)

Man, I sure don't mind holding something here in West Texas, but if it kept the forum owners from attending, that would suck. As far as dates here, we have a KTAC Field Target Extravaganza & Campout on the 22-23rd of September. We could add the 21st on to that and make it a 3 day. What we do is have bonfires, BBQ's, campout, rabbit hunts, and shoot mini-Field Target, Full Field Target, Nighttime Spotlight match, Red Ryder shoot-off, and some paper target matches. It's a blast let me tell you and the weather is always cooler. If this is good for everyone, just holler, but like i said, it would suck to not have the forum owners be able to come. Quite the pickle...
-
Thanks for your generouse offer Robert
Gene
-
Geeze what an offer Robert. I would think that Gene and I might possibly be able to work something out. A problem for me is making sure that Gene "remembers" his wallet and getting him to "commit to" providing lunch along the way. May also need to get a tag along trailer for dragging Fritz with us too.
-
Hey, Bob, I've got a trailer you could borrow for Fritz! Not sure how to get it to you, but it should be just the right size. You could even pack some of your tuning equipment, and give a clinic, with Fritz there to keep Gene in line :-)!
