Don't know to much about the state regulations here in SC but in Greenville county it seems to be wide open with no restrictions with the exception of hunting. I do know it is open season on squirrels. Not sure about the city of Greenville though and I live in the county. I took out 346 of them the first three years I lived here. They were everywhere. It would be nothing to see ten at a time and I used to get at least 4-5 a day every day for awhile. We still have a lot but nothing like it used to be.

Here we have a town ordinance stating that you have to be 16 years of age to shoot an airgun by yourself.  If you are younger you need proper adult supervision.  You also, of course, have to be a safe distance from any occuppied building or dwelling, unless you have permission from the owner.  Airguns are not legally considered "firearms" in NY but they are legal implements for small game hunting. Funny thing is in the county I live in it is illegal to even be afield with a rifle, any kind of rifle, so hunting with a rifle is banned, it's shotgun only, but since airguns are not considered firearms you can legally hunt small game with them.  Part of the reason I got into airguns a few months ago was just for this fact.  I love hunting small game with a 22 caliber rifle, but in order to do it I have to drive 4 hours away to my summer home up in the Catskill mountains where rifles are legal hunting implements.  Now, with the airguns, I can experience the same challenge and excitement of rifle hunting for small game right here where I live, which is abundant in rabbits, squirrels, etc.  I only wish I had gotten into the airgun thing a long time ago  :)
