That's what I was thinking, then I remembered the only Jersey you ever see is the bad stuff on TV. Same for New York. A lot of God's country in both areas we don't get to see.

I wouldn't have guessed it. "Bears have been seen in all 21 counties of NJ".

http://www.state.nj.us/dep/fgw/bearfacts.htm

My brother's mountain home in NC is way up on top of a 3,200 foot ridge, surrounded by forest. and only a few homes at the top. After many excursions on 4wheelers and trips up the steep gravel roads in the past eight years or so, I've seen just one bear, and I know there are a lot of them in the woods. Black bears are pretty reclusive, but it seems they are becoming more common in most areas of the country.

I see bears a couple times a month. A few years ago (buba) would come by every week , Friday nights to be exact. So I had to buy a garbage can shed, well it took about 1 year for him to find out were the garbage cans went then he started to rip open the shed
(http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj196/njphil/035.jpg) (http://s272.photobucket.com/albums/jj196/njphil/?action=view¤t=035.jpg)
So back together it went with 100 screws and so far he has not ripped it open again. Then starting this spring when I go to work about 6 am I put the garbage to the road for pick up, they come around 7:30 ,That sob would time it right and every week rip it open. So now I have bear proof heavy duty screw on lid cans.
A week does not go by that I don't hear something in the woods and assume it is a bear.
I live almost dead center of my town 1 minute walk down the street is the town center Shop rite,McDonalds ,the road even has stop lights and side walks. There just happens to be a 200-300 acre lot behind me that is undeveloped.
: RE: something you dont see often./ WINNIE !!!!.

Phil_B     This is the perfect time for you to change your GTA name.   You now officially qualify to go by Christpher Robin or some variation there of.

You live at the 100+ acre wood and have a Bear.  Which we all know is Winnie.  Set some honey jars out at once.

And you have got to find some way to make $$$$ off of this bear.  Write a book, make a movie....  something.

The excitement is UN-Bear-Able.
