My BigCat seal was severely cooked. Any idea why this happens?

My guess,...some serious Detonation happenning on that bad-boy!! Are you using light weight pellets,...Gamo PBA's or Crosman Silver Eagle pellets? They'll cause this for sure,...along with dry-firing!!!! Yikes. But then again,....it could have been a bad seal with a weak spot, or the fella in the factory gave the lube applicater and extra squirt!!!! Severe dieselling may have brought up the firing cycle tempratures enough to cause the melting spots, but I'm not and expert on this aspect. Best cure would be to tune it with a Macarri seal,...along with the rest of the proper tuning methods,...and use pellets apropriate for your rifle,...say 7.9 to 8.8 grain weight. Metal shavings from a poorly manufactured (un deburred) action could have played a part in this as well. tjk

I just had it Turbotuned by Gene, and this is the seal he sent back with the gun. I appreciate your input. I don't want this to happen again. It is shooting so good right now. Dime sized groups easy. We shot maybe 5 PBA's through it when we first got it (before we knew better). Other then that it has been can of Gamo Hunters, lots of CP 7.9 GR, and a few hundred CPHP's (about 2000 pellets all together). It won't be allowed to see anything much less than 7.9gr in the future.

Yeah,..those factory seals can be pretty lame!!!!! Glad you've seen the first-hand results of using BS "High-Velocity" pellets, tjk
