Naw, don't want to start any arguments... some will mourn the passing of this influential legend, though.

Les Paul was a great man. I think he has influenced everyone in some way through his inventing the electric guitar, and certainly a legend.

Certainly not the Doc Beeman of guitars. Beeman promoted what are now considered adult air guns and made suggestions to the manufacturers. Les Paul actually made and used electric guitars. Plus the old boy could really play. Quite a bit more than what Beeman did in his area of expertise.

I would have to say Les Paul was in a class of his own, he will be missed.

I caught this story a little earlier today. I've been playing guitar since I was 6 years old... many styles. Les Paul was an influential voice and talent in the history of Gibson guitars. He'd hinted at the idea of jumbo frets, a thinner neck and in the evolution of the toggle. His playing is in a league of its own. Good ol' boy style and he influenced many other guitarists of the day in the likes of Chet Atkins. I don't know how much I'll miss him because I've never been a Gibson player. Gibson Guitars was a fabulous company until the late 80's when they went from manufacturing 100 guitars a day to 1000's. Craftsmanship went down, their quality went down and I for one, never looked back.
An Icon has passed. His name lives on....
