Alpha target, 600 yard line Viale Range, Camp Perry Ohio...First week of Aug 1986... M14, as issued NM sights (peep and blade), prone position.. Victim was the spindle of a 6 inch spotter, that was residing in a "pinwheel" X.. Spotter fell straight down, Raining buckets...Entire center of target expolded into the butts...
Baker target, 500 yard prone, Alpha line, Stone Bay range (Camp Lejune) June 87.. M16A2, armory issue, ball ammo... 2 spindles shot out, both on the line across the shoulders, centered... Then a "miss" (suspect the kids pulling the target hadn't been pasting the target, just the spotter) was called after they searched for a shot hole... I think they took great joy in sending that Maggies Drawers my way..LOL Was pouring then too..I see a trend ;) Next shot and all following shots were in the exact same spot.... Was shooting a frame hold the visability and conditions were so bad!

#1
Weapon: BAM50 .177 off a bench
Victim: Soda can filled with sand
Distance: 158 yards
Date: Sometime in 2007
Took 10+ shots to get the holdover just right, but then I was able to hit it around 3 times out of 10.
#2
Weapon: HW97K .177 off a tripod
Victim: 1" spinner
Distance: 55 yards
Date: Two months ago
Shot a couple times at a 2" spinner, then a 1 1/2" spinner to get my groove on, after that I could hit the 1" spinner probably 9 out of 10 times. I was having a good day to say the least. Tried doing the same shot last month and was lucky to hit 1 out of 3 times on a 1 1/2" spinner....go figure. Think it depends on where your head is at as much as how good the gun is, even a good shooter can get stuffed up when other things are going on...a really good shooter can clear his mind no matter what else life has to offer.
-
are always shooting at dirt you can't see:)
Who was calling for ya? They did a good job too!!
we used to carry the spotters for the Iowa... Now there was some long range sniping!!

It would be some 30 years ago.
sparrow flying at about 50yards with an old 22 single shot ( can you say lucky shot?) :)
Then another time I got a rabbit at roughly 30yards, This time the weapon of choice was a small flat rock. Whipped that thing like you would skip a rock on the water and it hooked and popped that rabbit in the head!
It'll never happen again in my life time! LOL And I do have witnesses ( my dad and brother).
-
Incredible shot with that rock!!!!!! You wouldn't happen to be related to Kiwi or to an Ozzy would you? Throwing that rock like a boomerang.
-
LOL nope just a central Illinoian :) I would love to go visit those countries some day though.
-
Shadow 1000, wall stud, ten meters. Killed the H*** out of it.
Hooooyaaaah???? You was Navy? Shame on you for imitating those poor Marines.
Please, guys, let's not post things that might be interpreted as something less than sporting. As Geico says, "Tell me whose watching?"

About 20 yards offhand with a lawn chair on my left shoulder. I am right handed shooter so it was on the weak arm. SHot a squirrel with my Gamo hunter and JSB 8.4 gr pellets, she slings them down range at about 920 with pinpoint accuracy. Shot through his left eye out the right ear. Love big glassy eyes. Make great bullseye! lol I know 20 yards isnt much but in NC swamps 20 is about the farthest you get.
SHould have read others fisrt. My longest target that died was a beer can at 75 yards with my 350 about 2 weeks ago. Man that 350 is a beast! I am loving it more every time I get it out.
Longest with my hunter was the beeman pig steel target at 60 yards. 3 out of 5 times. Its about 2 in wide and 1.5 in tall.
Just shot a trainer golf ball 45 yard at night with laser on the 350. When you get the bright return, hold and squeeze! Was shooting from 7 ft back from a window 12 in open off my camera tripod and sock fuull of rice. Just like I will be doing for the grackles tomorrow! Oh man bring them on.
-
On paper targets 500 yards all day with a M-16 5.56/223 open sights. Was an expert everytime before leaving the 300 yard line. The 500 yard line was just gravy and sometimes help your buddy when hes about to go south. :emoticon:
Active Marine 16 1/2 years now! OOOOOOOOORRRRRRRAAAAHHHHHHHH!
