: Remington Summit 22?
: kkoenning August 27, 2009, 02:34:25 AM
Stopped in Dick's Sporting Goods and saw that they are selling a Remington Summit 22. Checked on the Crosman website and it is not shown there. I assume this is probably a Quest variant? Do you think I could expect 700fps with a typical 14 to 15 grain pellet?

The box has a sticker claiming a "new improved" trigger. Any experience with this?

I have a Summit .177 and it has become the smoothest springer I have. It has been lube tuned w/Apex seal and a GRT-III trigger installed. Original scope failed, but the replacement is working well.

TIA for any opinions/experience.

Hmmmm... If it IS a summit in .22.......... I WANT ONE!!! I had a .177 and liked it, but wished it came in  a larger caliber.

I've read that the "New generation" of some Crosmans come installed with a "better" trigger.....I haven't seen or experienced that yet.

Looks like I will be answering my own questions. I went to Dick's today and purchased the Summit .22. After I get some shots through it, I will post with my thoughts.

I looked EVERYWHERE and can't find a Summit .22 . All I've found are .177's .

I would LOVE to have one of those! I really like the stocks on them for some reason. More streamlined compared to the Quest. Same goes for how they shoot. For some reason they feel tighter than a Quest. If I can get one in .22, then I'd be set!

Oh, sorry for not answering your original question!!!

Yes, I believe they ARE a variant of the Quest. All my .22 Quests shot low 700's right out of the box with Crosman Premier Domes. Accuracy is about pretty good. All except one of mine could hold a 1 - 1.25"  group at 25 yards untuned.

From what CDT explained to me, it's just a redesigned trigger blade. Cast or machined steel, slightly wider with vertical cerrations.

According to Crosman, it is only sold by Dick's Sporting Goods.

Hmmmm... There's no Dicks near me anywhere and they're not listed on the website. I wonder who I can contact to ship me one?

so??????? how does it shoot? i am dying to know... i got a Dick's nearby and i'll get it in .22 in a heartbeat. It has  got to be a Tac1 with pretty wood on it... and that only means that it is a great rifle...
: Re: Remington Summit 22?
: SDale September 03, 2009, 04:42:55 PM
I don't think it's a Tac1. I think it's a Quest with pretty wood. But I'll pay the extra! hehe

strange... i guess i assumed it to be the same action as the Tac1 due to the muzzlebrake... is the quest as good as the tac1??? or is the g1 as good as the tac1?

I had to shim the trigger guard to keep it from hitting the trigger when the action screw is tightened. Trigger is AWFUL--lots of creep and very hard to fire. Very rough when cocking, even after a lube tune. So far, it is not shooting very well. One shot up, one down, one left, one right, etc....... So far, I have shot boxed Crosman Premiers, RWS Meisterkugeln Standard, and Crosman Pointed. The chrony numbers are good--average of 725 FPS (boxed Premiers) with a extreme spread of 10 FPS. Not sure why I cannot get a tight group. So far, not too pleased with this one.

In addition, I have now also shot RWS Superdomes and Beeman FTS. --Same result, poor groups. I have a GRT-III trigger blade on order. I am hoping that the crappy trigger is causing me to pull the gun off target when I shoot and the grouping problem will resolve itself when the GRT-III is installed.

ok... my friendly neighborhood's Dick's say that they never bring in .22 air rifles because no one buys them... so no summit for me. On the bright side they do have the G1 kit for 99.99$. Always room for another .177... but i still would like to find a summit in .22.

I went to the Dick's near me to see if they might have a Remington .22 but they didn't anything in .22. However I did pick up one of those G1 rifles. In spite of what I have read elsewhere about them, I found mine to be in great shape out of the box. Forearm screws were tight, lockup was strong and tight with no side to side play in the breech at all. I didn't find a lot of excess oil when I took the action out of the stock and the barrel was not that dirty. It dieseled the first 4 shots then settled down. Trigger is mushy as expected but if I keep the gun, I will get a GRT III trigger anyway. Haven't shot at a target yet because the focus ring on the supplied scope was broken. For $100, you get a heck of a deal - nice hefty solid rifle, a Centerpoint 3-9x scope, and a well made 1 piece scope mount.  Terry

Installed the GRT-III trigger blade and the difference is an eye-opener. It now groups much better--certainly more consistent. I must have been moving the gun when firing due to the lousy trigger. Also was able to remove the shim at the trigger guard. I think it is a keeper.

I found them!!! in Long island the only Dick's to carry them in .22 is the one by Roosevelt fields. They got 9 in stock..... 8 after i get there.

Please let us know what you think after you have had a chance to shoot it a while.

Oh, do yourself a BIG favor and get a GRT-III trigger replacement. Probably the best $32 you will spend on an air rifle. Made a world of difference on my Summit.

So how much is Dick's selling them for?

Also anyone know if this is the same action as the old .177.  If so then I'm thinkng that Crosman will sell a Barrel for about $20?

My receipt shows $179.99 for the Summit.

I lube tuned mine and it appears to be the same action as the Summit .177 that I have.

You guys are killing me ,,,,, the other day I just said to myself that there aren't any air rifles out there right now that I'm dying to buy and now you guys got me wanting a Summit in .22   :o

I've always liked the look of them, I just think they look so "sleek".

I may have to go down into the basement and see what I can dig up to sell on ebay  :)

What is the Summit/Quest a clone of, if anything?
: Re: Remington Summit 22?-update
: natalia November 15, 2009, 02:04:16 PM
I bought one and put the GRT-III trigger in it, but it just wouldn't work right.  It was a hair trigger with no adjustment.  I've not had this problem putting the GRT-III in my Gamo air rifles, but this one just didn't like it.  By the time I modified it enough to have good trigger function, I had ruined it's ability to hold the safety under pressure.  I had to file down the top flat plane that the first stage adjustment screw goes through to get it to sit right against the trigger strut.  Otherwise, it pushed the strut up such that it was almost at the release point as soon as the trigger blade was installed.  I made sure the strut was centered and everything.  I'm not sure what the deal was, but I had to go back to the stock trigger, which has turned out to be not so bad.

It actually shoots pretty well.  The scope that came with it was decent too.  I've put about 150 pellets through it so far and I really enjoy it.

All crossman / remington air rifles are the old B19 Crossman bought the rights to this rifle and all their break barrels are the same just different stocks or sights and barrel lengths, that said the B-19 is a clone of the Gamo 220 rifle.  I hope this is a help howie
