Guam???? I know we have assets there, but.......

There has only been 87,600,000 of them minted so hang on to it. Apparently they are making quarters for all of the US controled territories.......

My dad flew B-52s out of Anderson AFB for quite awhile. Guess it made for long missions. They finally moved to the Thai Royal Naval Air Base at Utapao.

Peak, - my brother was with the 8th Air Force B-52's, SAC - flew out of Guam for two tours, and one out of Thailand - each tour being six months. Missions to South Vietnam were 13 hours 'round trip & North were 14 hours 'round trip. Flew quite a few missions to both North & South Nam, ..

The Guam quarter is the third of six coins issued in the 2009 District of Columbia and U.S. Territories Quarters Program. The other five quarter-dollars commemorate the District of Columbia, Guam, American Samoa, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.

Stephanie, where was your Dad stationed when he was in the states?  My uncle flew B-52's out of Mather before it was closed, he's at Barksdale now.

"Where America's Day Begins", thanks to the international date line.  My old sub operated out of Apra Harbor there in the early 70's.  Lately, I Googled on Guam and it sure has been developed since those days.  Even has a Hard Rock Cafe.  Back then, there were only a couple of decent watering holes.  And practically NO available women.  We used to say GUAM stood for "Give Up And M*******".  Like to see that on their quarter!  :D

This quarter is part of the commemorative series that the US Mint is  issuing. It's a continuation of the State Quarter program. There will be a total of 6 issued: Washington DC, Samoa, US Virgin Islands,  Northern Mariana Islands, Guam and Puerto Rico.
