What most of my airgun shooting bretheren don't know about me is that I've probably owned as many guitars as I have owned airguns (quite a few). Well about 10 years ago I just got a little too busy to play that much and slowly stopped playing altogether. Then I sold most of my guitars, equipment, etc...until I had 2 electric guitars that have been stored away in my closet for years. It was really strange because today I woke up and thought to myself that I'd like to go to Guitar Center and check out some guitars, not sure why, maybe I dreamed about playing? Long story short, I went to GC and went to their accoustic guitar room, picked up a few guitars, played a few, then I spotted a nice Takemine 6 string that was begging me to play it. I played it for maybe 5 minutes, the price was right, and out the door I went with it! I played for a good 2-3 hours tonight, man I forgot how bad your fingers hurt when you have no callouses. I still own 2 electric guitars that sit in my closet, haven't touched them in a few years, but it was really odd how I just felt drawn to go buy an accoustic guitar today, almost like I was going to Walmart to buy a loaf of bread. Now I just have to get my buddy Matt (Texas Shooter 72) to drive out to Fort Worth to shoot and show me some licks on the new axe. Oh yea, got two new guns last month too!

That is interesting, Dan. Did you see one of the new Martin recession specials? I understand they are making a pretty good reduced price model now. Interesting that I have some of the same experience, but like the airgun thing, my quantities for both guitars and airguns could be counted easily. Let me think...guitars, three acoustic and one electric, none of them expensive or big names. Airguns, four, and still have three of them. I may have to string up my flattop and strum a bit soon.

I've been seeing those Guitar Center Labor Day blow-out sale commercials all weekend! Congrats on your new six string, Dano. I still play the hell out of all of mine. Funny thing is I've got this Yari-Alvarez six string acoustic that was made by Yari in his garage from spare parts that was appraised in the vicinity of $2600... I don't play it too often. I've also got this Alvarez 12 string($300)... don't play it much. Now, when I was working at the pawn shop this 3/4 size acoustic(the one you've seen) came through and I bought it for $40 and I play the hell outa that thing! Everyday.
Expensive is one thing, practical is another and I'm in-love with my cheap Sammick, Greg Bennet 3/4 travel-sized guitar. It sounds great, plays really nice, I don't have to hunch over a BIG guitar body to try & play it. It's a Gem!
Enjoy your new guitar, bud. They go a long way!

As soon as I get some fund together I'll drive out for a guitar jam & fun shoot!

hey matt,...any thoughts on the ibanez iceman ( ic400) ? my daughter has her heart set on one. been searching for the "right" deal, one of the real icemans made in japan. found a couple circa 2005s, but the distance and not being able to see them first hand is an issue.

I still have a "Bowling Ball Silver" Fender "HM3" neck-thru body Korean made Squire circa 1990 that I bought brand new from Guitar Center in 1991 in San Diego. That guitar is FAST! Nice low action coupled with a Floyd Rose tremolo set up to run .008's! I had it rewired in 2000 complete with a hot pink DiMarzio humbucker in the lower position to make it a bit more "crunchier", but I haven't really played it much at all since then, I haven't even replaced the strings the tech that did the wiring put on it back then :o I may sell that one here eventually if I can figure out a price, all I have been able to find online about any info on that guitar is the HM2 which had a bolt on neck and isn't nearly as nice...but from the same series, just the lower model. Any clues? I paid around $350 for that guitar in 1991, not sure if it would be worth a ton more now. I also have a Kaman GTX that never really got played at all. When I bought it in 1994 it was brand new, but the threaded post that the tremolo bar threads into was broken. I eventually got the parts to fix it, but never did and it slowly became a "donor" guitar that I stole pieces and parts from for others. It's black with this crazy VanHalen white striping all over it...pretty 80's!
