How many carry conceal permit holders do we have here?
I have had my ccw permit going on two years now. I'm glad I got it before the big mad dash of new registers. Florida is so backed up on new applications,it could take up to 4-6 months to finally get the license . When I sent my paper work, and of course money, it only took like 6 weeks. In Florida, There is no open carry so you have to wear under a long shirt or in the waist band which is the way I prefer to carry. I have three preferred pistols I carry. My Springfield XD45 compact, for those days that I feel like I can conceal that cannon without having it protrude throe my clothing. My 2nd choice is my Kahr cw9, nice little gun and light weight too. My 3rd is my S&W 642 in .38. Of course I load her up with +P ammo for the extra oomph! My 2nd and 3rd choice are worn when i wear shorts. Its always hot here in Miami, so that's mostly what I wear when not working my job. I wear those in a pocket holster. So there you go Guys and Gal's,tell me what you carry and how you tote your bad boy (http://../jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-cool.gif)

Now were talkin. I have a FN Belgian High Power Browning I bought when I was 21 y/o. It was a retired Isrealy Military issue. That pistol has many memories and is still one of my favorites.
I have a little .32 that is a bit too small for my barbarian hands, its a Beretta tom cat.
I got the collector and relic bug last year and purchase two CZ82's and two PA63's in 9x18 Makarov.Changed out the springs to wolf springs to tame the recoil, There the blow back design.
I bought the Mossberg 500 for my under the bed shotty rifle. That bad boy has the extension tube for extra shots(http://../jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-cool.gif)
My truck gun is an old NEF 20 gauge single shot I bought way back in the day. They are called H&R now.
I also have an assorted bunch of .22's in LR. and magnum.
Plus the concealed pistols mentioned in the original above post.
My pride and joy collection is my 7.62x39 collection, I have 3 AK's and one SKS. This year I have aquired thousands of rounds of 7.62 ammo before the price hike.
I now am hooked to the world of AG's,and loving the hobby.(http://../jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-cool.gif)(http://../jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-smile.gif)

I've had a license to carry since the Stone Age, - well, not quite, probably about 30 years. In this state, the police dept. (here) or the agency that you apply to has to give you an answer in two weeks or less, - a state law. If you're turned down, you have to be provided with the reason why in writing. It cost $10.00 and has to be renewed every four years.

I have 5 of the pistols you list. I usually carry my 239 in .9mm

I take it you're in law enforcement. Actually I rarely carry around town, (have pepper spray instead) - but I do a LOT of hiking or snowshoeing depending on the season, - and ALWAYS carry out in the woods.
-
No CCW, but I still have the Browning Hi-Power. Mine is 1941 Nazi proofed and it won't be getting sold. Still shoots very very well and sits with my P38 and some similar items. I have other historical and hunting handguns, my very favorite shooterbeing a Ruger GP100 with the 6" heavy barrel, but it is not really designed for carry in the city.
I always thought the Glock 27 would be the perfect modern carry piece, and it is on the very short list of non-air-powered wants.
I guess I am a wheel gunner at heart, and the hammerless .38 (636 or one of those) would be my other choice.
-
I used to have the Ruger GP-100 in .375 Mag, but I think mine had a 5 inch barrel. I sold it when I bought the Colt Python, since the GP-100 was too big to carry concealed, and since the Python obviated the need for any other .357 wheel gun. The Ruger GP-100 is a fine weapon. I never could warm up to the Glocks -- no accounting for taste, I guess.

I was still relatively young when I got the GP100 but I liked the dry-fire capability with the transfer bar. I would dry fire at home all the time, with my tiny head full of Elmer Keith stories. Maybe it paid off, maybe not, didn't make me any worse of a shooter and I could hold a sort of group at 100 yards from a rest. I liked the Python but never owned one.
I did eventually take a couple of deer with it, although I don't really consider it an adequate deer cartridge. As a bow hunter I learned that you can get close to deer, and that (drum roll please) shot placement is everything. The deer were within 20 yards. Done with that.
Never liked the bigger Glocks either, to be honest. Plasticky feeling, trigger felt loose and insubstantial, just a soul-less clinical techno toy (with no hammer- what would Elmer say!). But for a carry piece the 27 seemed to fit the bill and I was more interested in performance than soul. I actually started test firing various carry-type guns at a range and found I had the best results with this little .40, which had a nice pop to it. Funny, 'cause I always wanted a PPK (who didn't?), but within a single mag of actual shooting I decided to move on. The 27 and the 636 were my two faves, partly based on absolute simplicity of operation.

john,...happily retired, miss it still at times. a for carry, actually i seldom do these days preferring to use "situational awareness" to keep me from harms way.
-
Golly, I almost forgot to mention my largest CC pistola:
IMI Desert Eagle, stainless, 44 Mag semiauto w/ AimPoint red dot -- think RoboCop
-
How many of you gentlemen and gentlewomen have actually been in a gun-fight that had bad guys shooting at you? And you returning fire. And if so, how many times? As civilians.
-
there is much to be said for situational awareness.
-
The Glock 19 is perfection in my book. Durable, reliable, compact, accurate, light in weight - with a 17 round clip. I can do without "soul" or "warmth". In Texas, we can carry concealed in our cars without any license. At the range or otherwise, I can go against any other compact pistol with confidence. Comes back to aimpoint better than anything I have shot. It's the only one I own, but I can't think of what I'd rather carry.
-
I usually carry my Walther P22 if I'm in shorts or my big Ruger P97dc (.45) most of the time. I use a polymer reinforced instructors belt with a Hunter open top high rise holster to keep it close or use I use a IWB holster from Hunter.
-
I have a CCW permit and carry a S&W 642 Airweight full of 38 Special +P Hollow Point Hydra-Shoks. Usually carry in a pocket holster or ankle holster.
Charlie,
-
Hey Charlie, I also have a 642 in .38,WOW, after shooting a couple of +P rounds at the range, my hands are numb :)
Man those +P's pack a wallop! :)

Hilario, in Michigan it is called CPL. Because I'm only 5'7" concealing some of my larger handguns is tough. I've paddled the 1911 but try walking around as your pants are dragged off your butt. Doesn't look good on 15 year olds and surely doesn't on an out of shape 45 year old! For me it is my S&W M&P 9mm compact in a paddle or IWB holster. But 9 times out of 10 my choice is to drop my KelTec P3AT into my pocket. With a wallet holster it goes into a back pocket or front very easily. Don't even know its there. With some hot HPs it will do its job. I know the debate is knockdown power of a .380 but with 90% of all self protection at 10 yards or less, I know getting hit with even a light 9mm shot will get the antogonist's attention! Like they say I'd rather have the .380 in my pocket than the 1911 back in the safe. And with how easy it is to slip in my pocket I'm more likely to carry.
Andy aka larspawn
P.S. This could all change if I can figure a way out to shove my Career 707 in my pocket. The sound alone would scare them off!
