: First kill with new black rifle!
: March 04, 2007, 02:42:53 AM
I took a peek outside this morning and saw two english sparrows messing around...My new rifle the model 901 Was ready for the task,I recently was shooting half inch groups at 25 yards rested,So I figured maybe I should try to get the gun a kill, The sparrow cooperated(thankfully)And let me land the Daisy wadcutter into its guts(On accident, the wind was bad and moving my crosshairs everywhere, right as soon as i pulled the trigger a gust blew my pellet a lil ways right and down,so i had to put another in him). From now on,This will be called the black rifle.

Very nice Yote,,, nothin like a new rifle to pump you up!!  (good pun huh?)

Glad to hear you got the scope issue on your S1K resolved.  Have the starlings returned in any big number by you yet?  In the past 2 weeks I've noticed a large increase in the numbers of starlings around here,,, I think the flocks that headed south at the beginning of the winter have started to return.

I'm looking forward to this years starling hunts at the duck farm, especially with the new rifles I've gotten.

Starling hunting= wear camo, move as slow as a slug, don't breath, don't make a sound, have your gun shouldered, dont even move your eyeballs when you think they spotted you, and pray. Yea...they are that tough to bring down!

And it takes them about 2 shots to figure out your range, after which they stay 5 yards beyond.  They know my place is dangerous, haven't had a starling land within 100 yards for weeks.  They fly over, but they don't stop!  But my CFX has become my car/truck gun, and it's dialed in.  Just not many around here yet.
