I and many other firearm owners knew this was going to happen ever since they forced gun owners to re-register their firearms.....over 10-15 years ago.
Last month Toronto, Ontario police "seized" over 600 firearms from legal owners because they'velet their firearms ownership licenses lapse and/or had their firearms hidden "under beds or in closets".
Notice it was not mentioned that those owners were "bad" people or that those firearms were illegal. The govt' are using the "Gun Registry".....which originally was supposed to only let them know who owns firearms......to track down legal gun owners. So now a few hundred citizens in Toronto will have no firearms to hunt, enjoy shootingand to protect themselves if there is an home invasion. No firearms were taken from "bad people" in that raid.

That's good news indeed, - now there won't be anymore murders, hold-ups, or violence etc.. ... Isn't it truly unbelievable that governments/people think this will actually accomplish anything worthwhile. Disarm the people who aren't a problem to begin with, - solves all those folks "feel good" needs.
-
If I lived in Canada right now I would feel soooooo Safe. About time those law abiding citizens, who never have commited a crime , be punished.
If you listen, you will be able to hear the Gangsta Thugs celebrating in the hood. It will be "Open Season" on decent citizens.

That`s why I`ve got a couple tucked away in a hermetically sealed container along with a couple thousand round for each, burried about 10 foot deep, plus when they were bought off individuals, and at the time for a individual to individual sale transfer wasn`t required, good luck to`em! 8)

The only reason the Government wants our guns, is to protect themselves from the "PEOPLE" after thay take ALL your rights away !!!!!
Thomas Jefferson wanted the American "PEOPLE" stage a revolution every 20 years, so that they would never forget HOW to regain their Government from Corrupt Politicians !!!!
Did we do that,,,NO !!!! Did our Government ever support it,,,, NO ! The POWER that WE gave a FEW, Has now made them think that they are our MASTERS !!!!!
WAKEY WAKEY AMERICA !!!!
It's to LATE for our Northern Brothers ! :(

Thanks guys for your support......I just needed to rant.
And you're right Big_Bill.....in the very old days before firearms were invented.....the citizenry had their pitchforks and farm implements to fight against tyranny. Now what do we have.....toss a laptop at them and use harsh language?

I don't want to offend anyone, I am Canadian living in the U.S., while I don't agree with the law the simple fact is they broke it. If they had obeyed the law they would still have their guns. I know it was a pain in the a$$ and a money grab but register them and all is good.
-
no matter what kinds of laws the gov. makes is that they will be broken dont tell me that they themselves dont brake laws .the gov.is braking laws big time right underneath our noses and we cant say anything cause nothing will get done .they allow terrorist to exsist on our land and train them .they know about these camps y not go after them .look the president folded letting the russian president tell him to bring down our defenses in europe ,our president should be on the show r u smarter than a fifth grader and get degrade it hehehehe.

What I like about those "gun amnesty" programs. Seen photos of the tables full of guns turned in, many of which have been smelted into manhole covers, etc. There, among the Street Sweepers and Saturday Night Specials, are old Colt single actions, vintage S&W's, WWI/WWII service pistols and a host of other truly collectibles. They all get thrown out with the trash. There should be some kind of resale offered for this type of gun. Would go to a safe, dependable owner and the money could benefit the community.

As usual Bill you are right on the money..:) So many Americans are taken in by our Government's deceptions.. Read the fine print before voting..:)

Yes,this is bad news indeed, and it's only just beginning.Thomas Jefferson said it best in my opinion.....“The two enemies of the people are criminals and government, so let us tie the second down with the chains of the Constitution so the second will not become the legalized version of the first.†– Thomas Jefferson

The re-register law was made to punish the legal gun owners. It was a "Feel Good" law to satisfy the non-gun owners. Did it take any guns off the hands of the criminals......a big fat NO. It was supposed to help the police if and when they answer a call.....check on the computer and they`ll know if there are any firearms in that residence/place. So if they checked the "Gun Registry" and it says no firearms are in that place are they going to knock on that door and be as carefree as possible? Not only that......a few years backsome police themselves say the registry doesn`t work and are not accurate.
As I`ve mentioned in other posts.....originally it was a one-time re-register for all your firearms.....for only $10.00Can. Then it was changed to one-time re-register for each firearm at $10.00 each. Then it was changed to must register each firearm every year.....I forget for how much. I guess now, it`s been changed to registereach oneevery 5 years.
It`s all a money-grab. The "Program" was supposed to pay for itself after 2 years......now it have been estimated that over 2 BILLION dollars have been used to run it........that`s right BILLION, not million$$$$.
Here`s the link in yahoo.ca (The last 2 paragraphs).....apparently this have been an on-going operation for over 6 months. My mistake.....ONLY 400 firearms were seized.....not 600.

When it becomes time to bury your firearms, then it is already time to dig them up again.

Red,
I can assure you that the better pieces of those firearms turned in find a good home !
Contrary to the press and official press releases ! ;)

many years back i was assigned to work a 32 ft police patrol boat on special detail. while waiting, it was literally loaded to the gunnels with confiscated weapons. every weapon imaginable was on board, you name it...........it was there. there was so much weight from these weapons, we honestly worried about taking water over the gunnels and transom.
once fully loaded, we had a DOJ ride along with us to make sure nothing was "hidden" or kept from destruction. a quick ride about 5 miles offshore ( well over 5000ft deep at this point !! ) and all the weapons were tossed over board ..................:(

Well I could buy a bunch of used .22 rimfire guns for like $50-100 each, and turn them in for $200 each, and make a nice profit. Maybe that's why some people turn them in, to make a few bucks? I bought a used Win. 30-30 about 5-6yrs back for $100. If I needed the $, I 'd turn it in for $200. The $20 airgun thing is rediculous. It goes to show you that NYC officials have no clue that many airguns cost as much or more than firearms. So people turn in their old pumpers they paid $39.99 for (I still have a couple of those) for. Do you think they will turn in some decent Springers and PCP's? It's a joke. I suppose some widow or someone out there might turn in an antique Colt .45 or a nice handgun their late husband or grandfather owned. I wouldn't doubt it for a mintue. A friend of mine bought a WWI Springfield rifle for $300 of a lady whose husband had died and she just wanted to get rid of it. He sold it for $1,150 on eBay and that was a few years ago. He also got an M14 rifle for some rediculous price about 6-7yrs ago and quadrippled his $ on that one too.
Moral of the story? Keep a log or hang tags on your guns with the value & other ifo, so your wives don't give them away for nothing in case you are gone! hehe :D
Oh sorry to hear about the gun registration laws in Canada. It's similar here but we don't have to keep registering them. In the state I live in, you register the firearm at the time you purchase it.. ie: you fill out the form at the gun shop or Sporting Goods store you 're buying it at, and you have to show 2 forms of ID that match, including a driver license. If not, they won't hand over the gun to you. It's not much different from Canada except they are trying to make $ over there, and screwed it all up by making it too beaurocratic and complex to administer, that they lost $ on it. It's the government.. what do you expect? They can't reliably run anything themselves.. not efficiently anyway. I was down in NYC 19yrs ago trying to get a beer license for my Deli. They had 8-9 people behind the counter and only 1 person was helping people at the counter and processing the 15-page application. The others were doing nothing. 2 women were doing their nails, and the phones were ringing off the hook and noone was answering them!! It drove me crazy watching that for 5-6hrs, and the line was wrapped around the hallway outside. I was waiting for someone to go postal and start shooting some of those women behind the counter that did nothing but BS and gossip with each other. At one point the supervisor was working by himself for like 2hrs while everyone else took a 2hr lunch. I 'm sure it's not like that anymore since Bloomberg took over as Mayor of NYC, but I still see that here with local town & county government. The Federal government can't be much different.

My Aunt had her house burglarized some years ago. The thief stole an antique pistol from among some guns my Uncle left behind. One of the cops who came to the house spied a Luger and asked her if she would be willing to donate it to the police department. Even she wasn't THAT DUMB! (This was before they were using 9mm's, too.)
