From time to time I hear rumors and false statements concerning James Maccari. The GTA has many new members as well as seasoned old timers who love air guns and love to shoot and work on them.

So I want to make somethingvery clear when it comes to James Maccari and Compasseco. For one he is an Icon in our industry. He is respected for his work and charactor. He makes our hobby/sport more rewarding. And he has not sold a spring to Compasseco in years.

For a short time James Maccari was selling Compasseco springs for there Model 97-99 air guns. At one point in there short business deal Compasseco wanted Jim to compete against the Chinese market with his springs. At this point the business end of their relationship ended. This was several years ago. But Compasseco continued to advertise James Maccari springs were installed in there guns. They were using Jim's name to boost there sales for years. Although Jim had stopped selling springs to them years back. Compasseco was just using Chinese springs in all there springers, including the Model 97-99.

When I was learning the air gun smith trade from Bob he would explain to me about how people would use Jim's name to boost there business. And how people would try and chisel and bicker with him over spring's and prices. Those who would complain of his attitude etc etc. But what they did and do not realize is that Jim has been around for many years giving us what we need to enjoy our hobby/sport.

At the bottom of James Maccari home he has a statement. I would like those of you who have not been on Jim's web site to read what he has to say.

In my book and also Bob's, Jim is a real stand up guy and shoots from the hip kinda guy. Also I would like to mention that Jim never frequents any forums due to the fact that he just does not like to get caught up in all the politics etc.

Please do not contact Compasseco for ARH-Maccari spring installs or saidparts. We have not supplied them with springs for many, manyyears even though the advertising lasted far longer. When we did it was for the Model 97-99 only and when the Gunsmith left to work for B'Square company several years agothat agreement ended. We never sold those two springs via our web site as we agreed not too. Feel free to contact us at anytime by email to check the status of your third party partssupplier.

Gene is right. Jim is a standup guy no doubt. Jim and I go back many many years and he was always there for me when I needed him.  There isn't a better guy to deal and work with....but... he is a no BS guy....tells it like it is...strictly business and doesn't have time for trivial matters. Jim's a don't waste my time type of guy but if you have a particular problem and not wasting his time with trivial questions, he'll be right there to help you. He has no patience with most wannabe's.

As far as the Compasseco deal is concerned, Gene is right. Jim and I had several discussions regarding his business relationship over the years and he has not sold springs to Compasseco for many years and would in my view, never work with them again. They falsely used his name and claimed to be using his springs for marketing and promoting the TF-97 and 99 and maybe others for years. He wouldn't sell springs to Compasseco any more and the never had them. This goes back six or eight years ago at least.

So I can assure you... if you buy a gun or have in the past 6-8 years from Compasseco and they claim that it had/has been upgraded with a Maccari spring, you have been more than likely  misled.

I have emailed him a question or two and he answered correctly, politely, and professionally. He's the only person I buy springs, lubes, seals from.

Question...I bought a TF97 about 2 years ago, and got it with a spring upgrade that compasseco said was a maccari spring. I was a little suspicious at the time as I had some bad dealings with pyramydair just prior, but I had it installed anyway, and had them send the old part. Is there any way to tell if the spring in my gun is a maccari? I've been thinking I'd have to be getting some tools to take my guns apart (a spring compressor at least), and maybe it is time now... I'm guessing that spring likely is not what I was sold...and that'd be hugely disappointing.

Richard, no way that is an upgraded JM Spring. Jim has not sold them a spring in over 4 years.

Hi everyone, here I've have had lots of great help, meet allot of up standing People just in talking with you all,
Well for Months now I've been back & forth many times = On the TF67& tf35 I ordered in sept,From Compassec$$%%^^&&%#$ Had problems with the guns & got a RMA# & back they went! so I was wating for a refund..
That never has happened, Me & Compasseco had a heated talk about My Refund on nov 6th he said it would be a few more day's to get it cleared?? Anyway  a long story short.
Eric said he would work with me on a new TF97 W scope at what I had in the refund coming & I could get a up grade , I did not want to spend anymore $$ it cosmpassec?

I do not know what the up grade was & don't care for it.Now Isee the up grade was a JM spring??
So now I've got an TF97 /W scope, in22cal.  as you may know in my spear time I look up the air gun on other web sites to see what they say about the TF97.

That's when I found this http://WWW.impactparts.com. ph# 1800-8600097 to order TF air guns A they are offering the same Jim mcCari- Spring up grade for 114.??
They are offering on afew air guns .
