: What scope do you have on your Disco?
: ray1377 October 08, 2009, 09:25:04 AM
What scope do you have on your Disco?
And what type of mounts?
I've got a new Disco coming and will need a scope on it.
I plan on using it mostly for hunting squirrels and crows and rabbits.
Don't want to spend a fortune.
I bought my last scope, a CenterPoint at walmart for $69.
Its a 4-16x40 and its really nice for the price.
Just curious if there were any other thoughts on disco scopes for hunting.
Thanks Ray

Hi Ray, when I ordered my Disco I ordered a Leapers  3-9 by 40 AO with it. The scope was very nice, it had mil dot range estimating illuminated recticle, and very clear optics, and only cost me $79.00 here in Canada, so it is probably cheaper by at least $10.00 in the US. I did find the Leapers scope very heavy, and the adjustment turrets were very awkward to use. On my scope I found the adjustment knob almost impossible to seat without the scope clicking off of zero. Maybe I just got a dud scope. I also did not like the fact that the scope could only be adjusted with the assistance of an allen key. If your in the field and happen to knock your scope, (which I happened to do), you won't be able to readjust your scope unless you carry this with you. I replaced the leapers with a Bushnell Banner dusk & dawn 4-12 by 40 AO.  It only weighs a fraction of the weight of the Leapers, and can be adjusted without the assistance of any tools. Simply unscrew the turret caps and there's finger knobs to adjust the scope. The optics are super clear as well. It cost me $129.00 at Walmart, so it's a little more that the Leapers, but the added simplicity of this scope is worth every penny. I guess I'm just not one for too many "bells and whistles". There's my 2 cents.

I put a Leapers 3x9x32 AO on it and it works great...   I have quite as few of these scopes, it's probably my favorite scope, especially since optics planet sells em for just under $50 buck including shipping....    As for mounts I used the Accushot high mounts.... they work great as well.....

I have a .177 and a .22 cal Disco and they both wear Center Point 4x16 40mm AO scopes.Seventy bucks at Walmart ,nice clear optics, repeatable adjustments, mil dots.
Im very satisfied with both.Only time you need the allen wrench is when you want to reset the zero on knobs, other than that its fingertip adjustments and knobs also lock.

Mine wears a Bushnell Sportsman 4-12X40 AO from Walmart for $69. It doesn't have Mil Dots but it's lighter than a Leapers or Centerpoint and you don't need an allen wrench to make adjustments. I used two piece medium mounts that I had from another scope purchase. The medium mounts make it a little tight to load pellets but not too bad. I think the Centerpoints at Walmart come with mounts but I'm not sure.

well..i left the centerpoint 4x16x40 on the MM b26,...the disco had no scope when i took possesion of it,.....so a leapers 6x24x50 that was gathering dust was mounted on high rings. the high rings were needed to clear the qb mag setup, and allow the objective to clear the barrel as well. a light as the disco is, i wasnt overly concerned with the weight of the leapers scope; additionally, the magnification offered will be nice for my 52 year old eyes when taking advantage of the discos range capabilities............

and a Pole Cat bipod. Hawke 3-9x40 under $50 with A/O and nice light scope. I tried a Simmons 44mag but the disco is just TOO light for it so it was too top heavy, the Hawke is great glass and balance.

Just in case anyone is looking to buy a Center Point scope from Walmart, they come with Weaver rings that dont readily fit grooved recievers so rings would still be needed.
They also come with flip up rubber covers which are usefull.

They do come with flip up scope covers but I found the front cover to be a bit cumbersome when it comes to adjusting the AO.
But they do keep the scope lenses clean.
